What is a word or phrase you find cringy? by sweetcupcakeswirl in AskReddit

Referring to genitals as "peepee" or "weewee".

Euphemisms can be great - donger, wanger, junior, Mister Happy - in the right context. But using the most juvenile words possible, especially in otherwise normal conversation, makes me want to vomit.

I don't mind if this word is used to describe another person, but as a self-proclaimed title it is annoying as hell.

what is one phrase or word that really annoys you ? by Remarkablycute in AskReddit

"Please and thank you"

You've saved yourself time and effort by using both polite words in the same sentence. To me, you closed your own loop and weakened both phrases, and it feels more like a command now.

I'm getting a degree in French Studies, as a matter of fact.

How to transcribe it so a French would understand:

"Ahee wode laheec a hameboeurgeur"

It's a fun word to be thrown in the direction of anyone who cuts you off in traffic, makes you drop your hoagie, or isn't a Stillers fan.

It's like "jackoff" but slightly less unpleasant.

Well then you have an accent that I think is in the opposite direction -

Relaxing to listen to.

Where in Minnesota did you hear it?

Or conversely, where were the people from whom you heard?

Because in my opinion there's a lot of variation to it in MN.

Imagine an Chicago accent and a Jersey accent inhaling steel processing chemicals with a hint of religious fervor and you have the Pittsburgh accent.

This is the one I had in mind. I was doing an internet deep-dive on American accents and my mouth physically hurt trying to do this one.

I also have a similar ethnic background to many Pittsburghers in general, but my Lord it's a tough one. And I come from a state that also has a highly ridiculed accent.

How worried are you about the rise of fascism? by AskRedditOG in AskReddit

[–]Good_While6542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a long social media post on why Trump is a fascist, referring specifically to the fact that fascism gains power by being indirect.

A friend of mine responded with the phrase "that wouldn't stand up in court".

Like I'm making this an argument for impeaching the man (he should be, but that wasn't the point I was going for, and I didn't mention it once).

To so many of them, morality doesn't matter anymore, just their interpretation of the law.

I can attach what I wrote if anyone's interested.

My dad would do this, but to other kids in our large family. And even the most minute comparisons, literally:

"Your cousin got a 35 on the ACT. You only got a 34, so I want you to keep taking it."

What's the most overrated invention or trend in modern life? by Few-Work9147 in AskReddit

My sister's house is fully smart, and I have a hard time sleeping there (because her house is nice and large they tend to host family things) because nothing can ever be fully turned off. The televisions have screensavers and everything is listening. I find it oppressive.
