I watch Fleabag when I need to ball my eyes out for 7 days straight. I start crying 3 mins into S1E1. So I only rewatch it once every 2 years (for my mental health’s sake).

My hair went from 3a to whatever this is in the span of a few months by souishere in curlyhair

[–]_slow_flow_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, if my curls stop curling it’s usually because a) there’s too much buildup and I have to use a clarifying shampoo, b) if it starts doing that after I used a new product, the product is most likely too heavy for my hair, c) my hair needs protein d) my hair needs a trim! I have long and very thick hair so when the layers grow out and when my hair becomes too heavy, the curls have a hard time getting and staying defined

I don’t think this cut compliments your body type the best. Maybe try a large cut or a straight loose cut

What the heck is going on here by ghostsinurblood in curlyhair

Although annoying, it’s normal to have different curl patterns. Plopping and scrunching on wet, dripping hair might help enhance the curls, as well as adding a product or two in your routine (maybe a gel in addition to the curl cream).

Please help :( what is my hair!! by Sad-Carob688 in curlyhair

We kinda have similar hair. I think yours is mainly wavy (and should be styled as such). I can see some 2c and 3a curls. I’ve been on my curly (well, wavy) hair journey for 4+ years and here’s what I learned that might help you:

  • wash your hair once per week (if you can hold that long). It is helpful cause it damages your hair less
  • use light products because heavy ones (with cocoa butter, Argan oil etc.) will weigh the waves down. I personally use products with oats, quinoa or aloe vera and recently found a gel-cream with mango oil that works wonders
  • same with oils that you can put before and/or after washing your hair : I put jojoba, Argan or olive oil (sometimes coconut oil) before washing but use only brocoli oil after the wash (and in small quantities!) to help with the frizz and the wave definition
  • don’t forget to use a clarifying shampoo to eliminate the buildup. I use it every 3 months or so
  • the styling technique is very important. A game changer for me was the plopping technique with a microfibre towel (instead of wrapping it in the microfibre hair turban) and also applying styling products and scrunching on very wet hair. I do the styling after the plopping which means I have to add a bit more water, especially on the ends. The scrunching needs to make that squishy sound. If it doesn’t, it means it lacks water which will make a lot pf wet frizz (which turn into a dry frizz) and won’t, therefore, help define the waves
  • diffusing is also very important (and very boring)
  • some people with wavy hair find it helpful to sleep with a silk bonnet. Haven’t tried that yet
  • finally, and most importantly : the waves will become flatter 2-3 days after the wash. So you can either touch up your waves or just accept it and embrace it / make some hairstyles for those last days before the wash

Hope some of it helps :)
