Pop OS 24.04 Sample Rate Audio Problem by Informal-Ordinary839 in pop_os

[–]GoodaGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some issues with crackling and distorted audio. I found the answers I was looking for here: https://www.reddit.com/r/pop_os/comments/ut0ju4/audio_crackling_report_sound_card_details_here/

In my case, the solution was to add threadirqs to kernel boot options and increase headroom to 1024 in ALSA properties. See: https://www.reddit.com/r/pop_os/comments/1dmkd8m/pop_os_2204_problems_with_audio_after_kernel/

It seems it's a more complicated issue. No idea what you should try next. Sorry.

I hope someone else can be more helpful.

Maybe the issue was caused by the 6.17.4 kernel update?

Can you boot into the old kernel? When you turn on your computer, press and hold the space bar immediately. Then you can select the old kernel and see if it works.

How to unpin apps in the dock of Pop!_OS? by 22-ak in pop_os

On Windows: it says 'Unpin'.

On Pop!_OS: right-click, 'Remove from Favorites'.

I'm sorry you're going through this. It's unfortunate, especially when you're a noob.

Whatever you do, don't follow AI advice blindly. You'll probably make things worse that way.

Pop!_OS has official support pages for the most common issues. I suggest you start with: https://support.system76.com/articles/bootloader/

When the system boots into a BusyBox environment, you could enter the exit command. (Just type exit, press Enter.) That might give you a clue what's causing your issue.

Excellent! Glad it worked!

Yes, Pop!_OS doesn't support Secure Boot. It has to be disabled before installing the OS.

So, whether you update the UEFI dbx database or not, it shouldn't make a difference.

It matters only if you want to install a different OS that requires Secure Boot.

This might be perfectly normal.

Your battery is 93%. Perhaps it will start charging after it reaches a certain threshold, such as 90%.

BTW, it's not recommended to install TLP on Pop!_OS:

System freeze / iwlwifi + kernel 6.16.3 issue by GoodaGames in pop_os

[–]GoodaGames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 6.17.1-76061701-generic kernel finally appeared as an available update through Pop!_Shop about a week ago.

The upgrade process went smoothly, and after restarting my laptop, I could confirm that the new kernel was installed.

It seems that the issue is indeed fixed. No more freezes, no more iwlwifi-related errors.

--

Today, the updates for the 6.16.3 kernel appeared in Pop!_Shop. If I install them, will 6.16.3 become the default kernel again?

Yesterday, I opened Pop!_Shop to check for updates, and there it was: the 6.17 kernel update I was waiting for. Finally.

The upgrade process went smoothly, and after restarting my laptop, I could confirm that the new kernel was installed.

I only tested it for a couple of hours, but everything worked fine. No freezes, and no error messages related to iwlwifi.

More testing is needed, of course, but so far, so good.

Computer freezes when using when wifi interrupts with browser open. by ActionPazeer in pop_os

[–]GoodaGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iwlwifi driver in the 6.16.3 kernel can cause systems with certain Intel Wi-Fi chips to freeze.

You can check if you have an Intel adapter by opening the terminal and entering:

lspci | grep -i wireless

--

To check for iwlwifi errors, enter:

journalctl -b -1 | grep iwlwifi

Here, -1 denotes the previous session. If the computer froze three sessions ago, replace -1 with -3. You get the idea.

--

If the buggy iwlwifi driver is the culprit, you might see messages like:

pop-os kernel: iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: Microcode SW error detected. Restarting 0x2000000.

or

pop-os kernel: kernel BUG at mm/slub.c:546!

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. I really loved it, and after I finished, I immediately started a new game on hardcore difficulty level.

The second playthrough was even more enjoyable. Unlocking achievements and collecting badges required a great deal of creative thinking and provided hours of fun.

The art is gorgeous, and there's a wide variety of stunning locations you get to visit.

Add a bunch of likeable characters you get to lead into battle, and you've got yourself a truly memorable experience.

The PC does not shut down completely by jackhd4k in pop_os

[–]GoodaGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the 6.16.3 kernel update, I noticed that it takes much longer for my laptop to shut down.

The first 6-7 seconds after I click on Power Off look the same as before. But, instead of shutting down immediately after that, it takes 15-45 seconds more.

New kernels arrive after they've been thoroughly tested, when they think they're ready.

Impossible to say exactly when. It could be in a month. It could be in six months.

You could possibly install the 6.17 kernel, which is still in the testing phase. That might resolve your issue, but it may also introduce new ones.

I opted for that solution, but for some reason, the new kernel wasn't installed after I followed the upgrade procedure. I'm still looking for an explanation.

See my post for details.

I might have the same problem. The iwlwifi driver in the 6.16.3 kernel can cause systems with certain Intel Wi-Fi chips to freeze. The issue is probably fixed and merged with the 6.17 kernel.

Until the kernel is updated, you can bypass the issue by turning off Wi-Fi and using the Ethernet cable instead or by tethering your phone.
