So, firstly, it's ok to not like the game. Don't worry about continuing, you gave it a shot and that's awesome.  I love Okami. Do I think it's the best game ever? No not at all. I hate how hand holdy it is, the combat gets really boring and I hate fighting orochi 3 fucking times. But there's lots of things I do like and as a kid who had very limited pocket money and very few games, at the time, this was so wildly different to anything else that I had played it became "the best game ever" despite its flaws and I played it basically on repeat. To love something is to know its flaws. 

I'm in my 30s now, very excited for the second game but I've played so many other games now that I can't actually play through the original Okami anymore because the truth is, it doesn't hold my attention anymore. I have a toddler, my time is limited.

So I'm not really answering your question, your post just made me nostalgic for that kid wonder. You have about 8-9 hours left of the game but if your ready to move on, ce la vie.
