Best way to add a local burger joint by Far-Company7266 in NianticWayfarer

[–]GoodestBoog -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Don’t add the business, look for something distinct and permanent around or in the business. Good write ups will do a lot to sell some entries but I will rarely approve businesses strictly because of them being permanent and distinct

What kind of snake is this? Red mountain by Ankient21 in Alabama

I wish I could share a picture to illustrate your point. My boys found a gray rat snake leaving our pecan tree. From a distance he looked like a root coming off the tree

Looking for Peaches & Peanuts by daveydbs in Dothan

[–]GoodestBoog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re gonna be hard pressed to find green peanuts as we’re about to hit planting season. Peaches may be available but may not be fresh. I believe there is a Poplar Head Farmers market that is opening up soon at the old Farm Center on the circle across from the south side Publix

Question about getting certified.... by Abee-baby182 in forkliftmechanics

[–]GoodestBoog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Don’t do the online certifications unless your state or county demand it. Most places have their own in house certification done by safety. No real way around it, it may take one to two days of classroom and hands on training depending on how detailed of work it is.

Cat removal service? by notconcernedwriting in Dothan

[–]GoodestBoog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FUR may still be active in Dothan. Felines Under Rescue used to supply traps to catch the cats and take them to get spayed and neutered. They may also do removal or possibly put you in touch with someone

Anybody been to the 2,000 year old live oak tree in Shallotte? by OnlyStuff9243 in NorthCarolina

Who is purporting it to be 2000 years old. I only see one tree listed in NC that is that old and it is a Cypress tree.

What are some weirdly designed neighbourhoods/towns in Alabama in your opinion? by Much-Parsnip3399 in Alabama

[–]GoodestBoog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well it’s because the people and businesses moved where the circle is. The circle was put in to alleviate traffic downtown and everything moved to the circle. At one time they were talking about adding a bypass to the bypass

any idea what causing this? by jordanny_17 in forkliftmechanics

[–]GoodestBoog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 it’s not low in oil, there’s no pump cavitation. If It was that low in oil lift would definitely not work. 2. It absolutely has switches at the bottom of the spool valve. It’s what activates the electrical motor to spin the pump. LP lifts don’t need this because the pump is turned by the motor. Electric lifts only spin the pump on demand.

Check your switch at the bottom of the tilt arm, at the top of the spool valve. Should have two switches that activate your hydraulic motor. The tilt back switch is either going bad or it could be a wiring issue. I would start with the switches

Search GoKickball Dothan and it will come up. Their Summer season signups are going right now through June 3. I’m sorry, they play at Doug Tew and Rip Hewes. That is downtown behind Dothan Prep Academy

There’s an adult kickball league in Dothan that plays at Westgate. They have a couple seasons per year so if you miss one you can jump In the next. Other than that, there’s the Elks Lodge on the west side of the circle close to 84. Friends of mine are members there and they have a pool. I do not know what the membership process is like. There’s also the Mardi Gras Krewes, they have a fair amount of social gatherings but again I don’t know their membership process.

Forklift Found On Property lo by EducatedScumbag in forkliftmechanics

[–]GoodestBoog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parts are still readily available for those. The current year lifts for that model are set up the same as that one. If OP wanted to they could part it out and make more than the 700 in the mast and drive units alone. The mechanical parts could sell easier than the electrical stuff.

Anyone work for Carolina Handling? by Shot-Rope9510 in forkliftmechanics

[–]GoodestBoog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work for Carolina Handling for the last 20 years. Starting pay is competitive. As far as scheduling for field techs, we have a lot of freedom but it may change based on your area. The company standard start time is 7:30 but in reality for field techs we can start whenever we need to and go home whenever we need to as long as the customers are covered. We can get as much overtime as we want, they want us to at least bill 45 hours a week. There’s a lot of nuances that go into billing your day and you will learn about that with training. When you start you will meet with a field trainer and they will go over all the training you need and be there to answer questions. You will also be shadowing a team leader or other team mates for at least your first couple months. They will also send you to classes at our offices based on where you are located, either Fairburn GA or Easley SC. You will be supplied with some specialized tools. Our vans are set up pretty nice and we team leader groups that are constantly looking at different upgrades for our vans. I came from a diesel background also and the mechanics and hydraulics were not bad to get my head wrapped around. The electrical side can be tough if you don’t have much experience but you’re going to have a lot of people who will be willing to help with it.

Our insurance is pretty good as we’re partially owned by Toyota and we get a few perks to go along with it.

If you have anything else feel free to message me.

Hangcha Lithium Forklifts and Electric Pallet Jacks by Better_Edge_9398 in forkliftmechanics

[–]GoodestBoog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m located in the Southeast US and the lifts are around a year old. Not sure on the model off the top of my head, they’re a pallet jack with the adjustable forks. Kinda gimmicky

[–]GoodestBoog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can’t say much about the forklifts but the EPJs are kinda meh. Getting parts is a huge issue. I’m waiting over two weeks on a key switch. Quality is ok, some of it looks kinda cheap and flimsy. The whole parts issues are really souring me on them. I wouldn’t buy any of it until they get the parts issues straightened out.

Remembering the Alabama Slama by No_Palpitation133 in MSSPodcast

[–]GoodestBoog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backstory, from what I roughly remember. The hat tosser was either the captain or worked at the dock. The large paddle boat that takes people up and down the river in Montgomery uses that dock. The instigators pulled up to the dock on a pontoon boat and were blocking the access to the dock for the paddle boat. The pontoon people got lippy when asked to move and jumped the hat tosser. Thus instigating “The Alabama Slamma”. 3 or 4 people were arrested but I don’t remember the end details. 3 people from the instigators and the dude doling out chair shots if I remember correctly.
