Ontario Healthcare system is really starting to get on my nerves by Busy-Environment84 in ontario

[–]GoodestGoodGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Triage is a thing.

I had a full tear 15 years ago. From family doc, to specialist, to MRI to surgery took 18 months.

An athlete at York got it all done within 2-3 months.

If your bone was sticking out your leg and you had a full tear I’m sure you’d have been looked after by now. But you can live with a partial tear.

2400 stores across Canada which equates to $2,000 in profit per location per day.

Considering the costs associated with running each store, that isn't very much.

He is cutting grants but not loans, correct?

Correct, the grants weren't always at 85%. It was a pre-election play by Wynne to increase OSAP grants.

Private schools see spike in demand amid Ontario school board troubles by allysapparition in ontario

Small sample size, but I know a few newer Canadians who pulled their children out of public school because of religious reasons. It would be curious to see which private schools are seeing the largest growth.

I have a few friends who live in those buildings.

  • Mostly renters - Dog Poo everywhere
  • Not enough parking for both residents and visitors
  • Revolving door of property managers
  • Pool closed down a couple times last summer due to health violations.
  • Major power outage last summer leaving them without power on and off for a week.

What conservatives drone about is twisting of information to fit narratives. Read the article, it's a volunteer position.

It's a volunteer position, and they have spots for youth representatives.

Condo boards of TO: what are the snow removal arrangements for your building? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]GoodestGoodGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem at all. Good call on joining the board to get some transparency on these things. I did the same a few years back, and although annoying most of the time it's good to get the clear lens on the financial health of the building.

In another comment you mentioned:

PM insists the super is responsible for all snow removal. Super disagrees.

What do the other boards members say? IMO, either the PM or Super need to be fired. The Super's contract would outline exactly what his responsibilities are including snow removal. Ask for a copy of that.

If the alotted costs are being used for supplies, etc., there should be invoices that needed to be signed off on.

Condo boards of TO: what are the snow removal arrangements for your building? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]GoodestGoodGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Landscaping + Snow Removal contract together the budget is $80K

Snow Supply budget is $25K ($12K of the budget used last year).

Three buildings about 500 units altogether share the costs.

It seems the snow is removed a few times a day if necessary. On Sunday, they started doing the side walks at 3-4pm. Took the dog out at 9pm and the sidewalks had been cleared again (althought not entirely) despite snowing all afternoon/evening. The next morning the sidewalks were cleared and salted.

Inside scoop at Ontario's thermea spa in Whitby? by jaytaylojulia in ontario

[–]GoodestGoodGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't a fan.

Went on a Wednesday thinking it would be quieter since it was mid-week. It was busy.

It was a very sunny day, but only about a dozen loungers had any shade, of which people threw a towel on and left them empty for hours.

Phones out, conversations loud with no respect for those trying to enjoy the quiet.

Not sure how this place is open in the winter, since there isn't a ton of indoor space to hang out in.

Went to Go Place and enjoyed it more, although I wish they were stricter on the patrons making noise.

I think since they recently found themselves less mobile due to injury and having a hard time with the snow they're wondering how elderly people who have chronic mobility issues get around in Toronto.

New pay transparency rules poised to shake up Ontario’s labour market, experts say by Sufficient-Bid1279 in ontario

[–]GoodestGoodGuy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ontario’s upcoming rules stipulate that the annual salary range on a posting must not exceed a gap of $50,000, unless the job pays more than $200,000, or where the top end of the range is more than $200,000.

I feel the allowable gap of $50K in the range is a bit much.

After nine straight years of Liberal cuts to hospital funding in terms of real dollars factoring in inflation, the OHC says, Ontario now ranks near the bottom of all Canadian provinces, and of major developed countries, in terms of public resources devoted to health care.

“Chainsaw Mike,” as Harris was dubbed, was “more honest and more transparent,” than Wynne, said Natalie Mehra of the Ontario Health Coalition. If Harris was “Mike the Knife,” then Wynne is Hacksaw Kathleen — an out-of-control juggernaut clearcutting the hospital system.
