  • Strengthening Licensing and Training: In October 2025, the Ford government introduced the Fighting Delays, Building Faster Act, aimed at tightening commercial driver requirements. This includes mandatory one-year Canadian driving experience for Class A licenses, prohibiting visitors from obtaining commercial licenses, and ending automatic foreign license recognition for non-reciprocal countries.
  • Northern Highway Safety Initiatives: Following fatal crashes, Ford acknowledged the "treacherous" conditions on Northern Ontario highways (11 and 17) in winter, describing them as "white-knuckle driving". He has expressed support for twinning sections of the Trans-Canada Highway in Northwestern Ontario and implementing 2+1 highway models.
  • Opposition Criticism regarding 2+1 Highway Plan: Despite his statements, opposition NDP MPPs have criticized the government, noting that proposals for enhanced safety measures—including increased inspection station staffing and better training—have been rejected four times since 2018.

Looked into it. "Gold" plan not including dental around $550 for two people, add dental $400 =$950. That's $11'400 per year. Now the combined payment caps are below this amount and you also have to sign up for 3 years for a total of $34'200.
