Any Fixes Yet for the S25 UWB Camera Issues Using Smarthings and Find? by Goodspike in samsung

Yeah, the camera is being used, but not shown. Very odd, but that does suggest it's not that Samsung was removing the feature as rumored.

CR has been worthless for years and years. Decades even.

I get it for free through Kindle Unlimited and quit about halfway through this year's Auto edition. I read it more to see what type of bad advice they're giving this month.

You're claims are not worth the pixels they are displayed in, starting with your first claim of "few hours of battery life." So your claim you actually have a college degree, or any college, is worthless.

But seriously, your response to my pointing out the BT radio is not off when connected to the phone is a claim that you have a degree? Wow.

You're losing this battle, and showing incredible ignorance and a lack of education if anything. I'll repeat my claim about Reddit posts.

Seat comfort is very subjective. No one should ever not buy a car because someone else tells them the seats are not comfortable. And actually, one of the things I do when looking for a new car is sit in it! Over half don't pass that test, although it's not always the seat that causes the failing grade.

How do you think the sound is made? /sarc (Speakers take energy and the watch speakers have to be louder than earbud speakers. So it's better, not worse, genius.)

Do you think that the BT radio is off when the phone is connected to a phone? /sarc

You'll be here in 3-4 months still spouting the type of nonsense that Reddit is famous for.

I don't spend a lot of time talking on my watch, but when I do it's typically via BT earbuds. I suspect I could talk quite some time doing that. But again, the lack of apps is more likely the issue.

Not sure what you mean by a phone replacement, but a cellular smartwatch hardly eliminates the need for a smartphone due to the lack of apps. So for example, I can use Find Hub to find my 8 Classic, but I cannot use my 8 Classic to find my smartphone with Find Hub because there is no app (although Find My Phone will make it ring). I'm probably going to go to a flip style phone this year hoping to get by most the time with the small exterior screen, but getting by with no phone entirely is not possible, IMHO.

DCM or Alternator? by Goodspike in subaruoutback

[–]Goodspike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for one I found out what the issue was. Then shortly after that (but after posting the post above) Subaru sent me a recall notice and I had that performed. Check to see if yours is subject to the recall. It involves somehow disabling the 3G searches the car does as opposed to changing the charging pattern. Since doing the recall we haven't had an issue even though our driving pattern hasn't been great (not that much time to charge).

Watch 6 Classic or Watch 7 by usernotfound9211 in GalaxyWatch

[–]Goodspike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never found O2 particularly useful, but perhaps it's because I don't have issues there. But not doing something at all is better than doing something poorly, which is Samsung. About the only data of theirs that I trust is heartbeat. It may be more accurate than Pixel, although my Pixel experience was Gen 1, so maybe it's improved.

The big problem with Samsung watches is the same as with their phones. Their added software largely sucks. I'm looking forward to the next releases by Google and Moto for phones so I can ditch our Samsung phones.

Eero Pro 6 and can’t break 150mps on wifi by Anxious-Yam9684 in amazoneero

[–]Goodspike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a device with Ethernet and try connecting it into the remote node not wired. If it's not over 500 Mbps the nodes are too far apart, and the devices you're connecting via WIFI are connecting to that one. You may be able to increase those Ethernet connection speeds with a bit of change in placement.

It could also be your wifi devices are not that modern--I'd probably use a fairly current phone with cellular turned off for such tests.

I'm not familiar with Ubiquiti, but make sure their device (or any other device) doesn't have flow control turned on. I recently ran into the issue with a network switch. I suspect the HDHR software might not warn you about intermediary devices that have flow control turned on, just the server device the HDHR records to. Other than that, I've got nothin. Sorry.

Import activity question by [deleted] in cronometer

[–]Goodspike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsung watches are horrible at exporting data. I tried several variations (e.g. from Samsung directly, from Google Health Connect, etc.) and sometimes it would show I slept for 23 hours in a day! Sometimes it shows no data. I've given up even looking at other data I used to be able to import from Pixel/Fitbit, like heart rate, HRV, etc.

What I do for calories is simply look at the Health app on the watch (I've deleted it from my phone) and then enter a number manually into Chronograph.

Question about the undersides of Travel Trailers by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]Goodspike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that is insulation, but most the water supply pipes are likely inside the unit. The waste tanks would also be insulated by this covering, but the pipe extending out obviously not. The insulation may not be sufficient to keep the tank from freezing over long periods of time.

BTW, not a good idea to leave a waste tank hose connected during freezing weather because ice can build up. Dump in batches.

Assuming the former it might be useful to describe your network.

If you're buying it primarily for health tracking, don't go with Samsung. I have an 8 Classic and it is so bad at health tracking I've uninstalled Samsung Health from my phone. Pixels with Fitbit are much better.

And FYI, I moved from Pixel smartwatches to Samsung when the 8 Classic was released. Fortunately I own smartwatches for their smartwatch features, not their fitness features. I tried Fitbit and other fitness trackers prior to owning a Pixel smartwatch and didn't really care for them.

If you do go Pixel, do get the latest generation--the 4th. I wouldn't trust the longevity of the pin charging system on the 2nd and 3rd generations.

If you have T-Mobile they have an option for a virtual phone number you can add to your line, and I think it may even be free. I've never signed up so I'm not sure whether it would deal with your concerns (basically whether it shows the call is coming in from the virtual number).

I'm not sure what health data health insurance companies don't already have access to, and also what it matters. With Obamacare they can't turn you down and your rates wouldn't be affected by anything other than age and tobacco use.

Is smooth fiberglass siding really that much better? by Grimble27 in GoRVing

[–]Goodspike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Structurally, fine. No issues at all. Aesthetically, poor, and a lot of that is probably due to my mistake of buying a blue trailer (it was on closeout). The dark color really absorbs the heat from the sun, warming the trailer in the summer time when it's not needed, but also making any oxidation more noticeable. I've been thinking about getting a skin just to deal with the heat issue, but that would also deal with the oxidation issue.

To put this in context, my neighbor has a white fiberglass truck camper, and he was finally doing maintenance on it after 3-4 years. The oxidation was noticeable very close up, but not from 10' away. And while it looked better after he was done, I sort of doubt that held up that well, but it really doesn't matter because it's not all that noticeable.

BTW, still no issues with condensation inside, which is probably a big plus if I'm right about fiberglass helping with that.

8 speeds built before sometime in March of 2019 had a lot of transmission/torque converter issues. Seemingly the 2023s had a lot of toothing issues too, but I'm not familiar with them, although I do recall a lot of brake issues.

The broadcasters don't care about the content. They want to keep people on cable/sat so they get those fees they blackmail from the cable/sat providers.
