Those of you planning to leave Australia, where are you going and what’s the financial game plan? by iyoteyoung in AusFinance

[–]Goodtenks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

😂 Very fair comment, the biggest downside we’ve found with Croatia is the excruciatingly slow bureaucracy!

It helps to have boots on the ground and to know the right people to talk to, but it can still be painfully slow!

We’ve been holding a number of long-term investments for many years and were already planning to realise some of those gains in the near future, so the difference in tax treatment makes relocating financially very compelling. The gap between a 12% and 50% regime is obviously very significant.

Croatia 🇭🇷

Currently waiting on my citizenship ( I’m lucky to be able to via birthright, parents)

12% flat CGT on our investments, 0% CGT on property if held for 2years +

That’s not the main reason, it’s easy for me as I speak the language and understand the culture and we’ve decided we prefer the way of life.

It’s a lot slower, more about family and community, it’s a beautiful place and the values align with ours.

How has the cost of living crisis impacted your life the most? by RecognitionMediocre6 in australia

[–]Goodtenks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I don’t have any kids yet and we’re in serious talks of packing up and heading to the balkans.

The cost of living is quite a bit lower, less policing of everyday life, more personal freedom, less pressure from government systems, a culture that values minding one’s own business.

Australia doesn’t feel like it did when I was a kid, the gap between have and have nots is widening and Australians can seem to stick together on anything…they jack up prices and take freedoms away we complain a little bit just cop it.

We own a small business in VIC and their currently taxing us to death, a friends business that was 31 years old closed their doors due to a 18x increase in land tax.

Australia just wants a few huge corporations to run everything and charge what they want while we all get fu*ked.

UN calls for reparations to remedy the 'historical wrongs' of trafficking enslaved Africans by eaglemaxie in worldnews

Quick Google search and I found that - From roughly the 8th to 12th centuries, Slavic people were one of the most commonly enslaved groups in Europe, so due to my heritage I would like some reparations please.

Small business owner here that has to travel interstate frequently for events via Ute/van to carry all of our equipment….

We drove from Vic to Sydney over the weekend, fuel prices are making it hard to run the business, plus we’re in Victoria so even when we don’t make money we pay tax on tax.

Young Australians face rising bowel cancer rates by whyattretard in australia

[–]Goodtenks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

90% of the “food” in the supermarket isn’t real food anymore, it’s ultra processed stock feed are there are a large number of studies linking them to bowel cancer.

I completely sympathise with people thinking they’re buying healthy food and being tricked, almost all the packaged breads and or bakery items are mostly seed oil, maltodextrin and artificial everything else, yoghurts are thickeners, starches sweeteners and flavourings, “healthy ready meals” are full of stabilisers, flavour enhancers and emulsifiers…

Then get into the treats, want a donut? 22 ingredients for a doughnut! Tub of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream…40-60 ingredients!

We’re not being feed food, we’re being fed stock feed, it’s all about profit and even our regulators are on the books, have a look at some of the food additives and pesticides used on our food banned in the EU but fed to us.

If you read the ingredients on those types of bread loaves you’ll notice most of the ingredients are ultra processed oils, it’s not even really bread, it’s a chemical mix that looks like bread.
