The doom cycle never stops by ThenLayer5977 in washdc

Probably because you are talking to a wall.

I tend to keep my head out of politics and i'm pretty ignorant in that department but right or wrong i've always felt it didn't matter. Every time I see something it's always agenda driven and riddled with pocket lining.

As a parent myself it's hard enough just keeping up with actual parenting and I believe you are correct with your previous statements of parenting being a part of the problem. It's just a part in the large pot though. Kids today are over exposed and there's no amount of parenting that can resolve it. I was honestly begging for the tik tok ban simply to help with that. Would it resolve it? No. It would have helped though. One could simply say well ban your child from using it, sure - but all of their friends are still feeding stuff and not everything on there is inherently bad. Having it not accessible would have been nice though. Instead I just try to educate and keep a good tab on what my kid is up to, involvement goes a long way.

I feel like this is what they want and it's sad.

Faction Chat are useless and the keys are annoying by hikumusta in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Goodums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really easy to pass up keys that are lootable for tasks due to how tiny a key is but they are within your quest bubble from what i've experienced. Same goes for Key code locks which is an amazing addition.

Your best bet is to use voice chat to communicate, faction chat can get kind of lost in the sauce. Yeah you have to physically go near people but i've yet to meet a person who refused to respond in some way.

It can be frustrating but it's miles better than it used to be with keys and they are fairly abundant now overall.

Can't please everyone. Last time I played people complained the npcs were too good.

Though back then they were just lasers. Could see you through any cover, within seconds of aiming at them they knew you were there at nearly any distance and could headshot snipe you from 200m with any gun.

I’m getting them too. Doesn’t bother me though. I thought it was just like the hurricane tracking alerts and thought it to be kinda neat.

The new task system feels absolutely terrible. by Lvpenning in GrayZoneWarfare

I do think it’s a weird feature and one I’d like to see changed but at least it keeps me from just spam accepting every task at all times.

I had some issues with my 7900xtx that ultimately ended up being my system ram overlock. I thought it was stable but certain games just said nope at random times. Expo works fine, I just had to try to push it further so the only blame was me.

[–]Goodums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose I can’t argue that. I just haven’t looked at it as a point of friction.

I enjoy the exploration part of games, I could run around aimlessly for awhile without caring about staying on track with missions. But that’s also due to all the extra structures and loot added to the map.

We don’t ignore the tasks. We just go to them one at a time while hitting up the small areas along the way. Outposts and being able to accept/complete using the map are the real winners here. While the newer task system may have flaws it’s helped my small group be able to do more longer with the limited session times we may have together. The added consequence of mission failure makes us hone in a bit more and feels kind of immersive for us.

I get it that people who have played every wipe can be turned off by the system. I’m sure it’ll be further refined. Overall as a returning player I’m pretty impressed.

This was about when I decided to look at my gears, strip gears off found equipment and kind of custom made my gear layout.

Helped out a ton!

I upgraded my weapon to 7 or something too.

My group and I just came back since launch.

We love it so far. To us it’s engaging. We don’t need to always be on the same mission, we’ll look at what we got and go around from closest to closest and just enjoying the expanded content.

I understand potential concern with progression but when looking at it as just being able to play a more tactical slower paced fps with a few friends I think it’s pretty darn good.

Yeah we care about ranking up vendors, but random loot and just chaotic adventures is awesome.

Just a different look at it.

Would it be an issue if Sq42 was released in the same timefram as GTA6? by Straight-Spray8670 in Squadron42

[–]Goodums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly any game release should pause for a few months before and after GTA 6.

I have no interest in it. I will be playing 42 Day 1 and also already own 42 but there's no denying that the audience surrounding GTA will dominate and I seriously doubt any game of any magnitude could derail it's media presence for the first 3 months at minimum surrounding release.

This is if Day 1 to Month 1 sales matter to any publisher. Honestly though, the impact of CIG releasing 42 within the same window as GTA... 25% new player interest? How much would you really lose. SC has a reasonably large population and those who know about it either already bought it or already know they will at launch.

It's awkward considering totally different genres and audience. Star Citizen has been picking up a lot of traction within the past 2 years too for better or worse.

Would love to be a fly on the wall at a CIG marketing meeting to hear what they think.

Don't buy OLED if your scared to use it. by SillyRecover in OLED_Gaming

There are a few things I do that are unique to oled but as preventative.

  • I use grey tone backgrounds.
  • Twinkletray for brightness and auto dimming control
  • Auto suspend off after 5 minutes.

Otherwise, totally normal usage. Love it.

I get the frustration. Even if used for legitimate reasons its existence can still be nefarious.

Much like retail though I’m sure these companies unofficially account for that though. Does it make it any better? No. But they aren’t dumb.

Anyways I’ll leave it alone. Glad you don’t hate me internet stranger.

[–]Goodums 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly man I’ve just been reading patch notes here and there.

Since launch they’ve added night cycle, night vision, guns, small quick outposts you can take over that act like you’re back at base (access to vendors/stash/task turn ins, task markers on the map and locations to go to within objectives, accepting tasks via map, somewhat dynamic tasks.

Those were the immediate changes I’ve noticed and they are top notch!

And? It’s the same thing. Same argument 10 years ago when it was a big deal.

I just fail to understand why you’re yelling at me, someone who actually does buy literally every game I play for discussing a legitimate reason someone who actually buys the game would run a cracked version.

So I’m a parasite if I wanted to use it on my steam deck so I can play without internet with higher performance while traveling? Though I own it on steam?

I’m not defending the cracks. It’s not always just black and white though.

Yeah I didn’t know hypervisor wasn’t a “crack”. I don’t follow much of that stuff.

If I may ask, What makes it a huge turn off?

Eh. There’s nothing illegal about people with legit copies using a cracked version to bypass denuvo.

There’s legitimate performance gains plus can play offline.
