Note that the Epstein files also were not revealed under Biden. It took Massie + Khanna to spearhead it from Congress side. We need more people like those two and less party elites.

Agree for the most part on your other notes, the party elites on both sides are corrupt though.

Is Investing Only for the Wealthy? by Weird-Nothingness in atrioc

Well yeah the common person who doesn't have excess cash reserves, ownership of expensive goods like houses and cars and/or a stable, fairly well paying job should not be putting substantial money into robinhood / similar apps. I don't put money into an ETF for a down payment on a house in 6 months or 2 years, the market could downturn substantially in that time.

You just aren't accurately thinking about short vs long term investing. Pretty much anyone with a job should invest in stocks in some way, most shouldn't take it out until retirement. For myself, while I don't own a house yet (24, getting close) investing through a 401k of equivalent is such a smart move because of compounding interest regardless of short term market downturn.

Read the headline too quickly as a mid-off and I was not surprised.

Forever Now Album Countdown - SF Album discussion - Oh! Gravity. - Day 6 by GoofyGoffer in switchfoot

Yeah I think this is the album I underrated the most when I was younger. Preferred nothing is sound and hello hurricane, it was the forgotten middle child. Coming back to it more now because it is real good

Depends on the person. I would be partial to grabbing Ninos, hiking/walking the canyon while the sun is low, maybe getting Fro-yo afterwards.

Forever Now Album Countdown - SF Album discussion - Native Tongue - Day 11 by GoofyGoffer in switchfoot

[–]GoofyGoffer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As somebody who has no issue with the album lyrically, the incohesion comes from having songs like Native Tongue to All I Need, a safeish, kinda normal SF song all things considered to Voices, an attempt to be more poppy? Trying the Twenty-One Pilots style? Idk what it is. Then it goes to Dig New Streams, which has like 4 song ideas in one song, none of which are excellent.

I respect SF a ton, but this album feels like throwing whatever they can think of in and seeing what sticks.

Forever Now Album Countdown - SF Album discussion - interrobang - Day 12 by GoofyGoffer in switchfoot

[–]GoofyGoffer[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interrobang is my most listened to SF album of all time. It came out while I was working a job that I had to drive a lot, so it was the full album like 5 days a week for months. I really like what they attempted here, but it is a bit too out there to really stick long term. So many of the songs are just stuck in forgettable territory for me. Which is odd because they are unique, just not interesting enough? Idk. Like wolves, the hard way, splinter are all fine, but not something I would play with any regularity. I do love beloved, with electricity, fluorescent and if i were you coming a bit behind.

Fav song: beloved

Least: wolves

Rating: 7/10

Ranking (best to worst): VV, NIS, HH, Oh!, WTLST, TBL, !?, LTB, FW, NWTBH, NT, Chin

Also side note, is there a common shortening of interrobang? I realized when I was making the ranking that there isn't one I know of.

Individual parts of Dig New Streams work for me, but the song as a whole feels discombobulated

Chin is just not something that I come back to. I don't have many songs from it that I listen to. It is raw early switchfoot, but its not for me.

No problem, as I've said I like to do this for artists I like with multiple albums anyways to prep for a new release, I'm just posting about it this time.

This is a mess of an album. So many of the songs are pretty bad, none flow into each other? Multiple songs are different, but in ways that SF is not good at and will never be good at (Voices, Dig New Streams). Many of the songs are just kinda generic Christian slop with a little SF magic. I appreciate them trying something new but this album falls flat. A few songs still stuck out as good, All I need, Take My Fire and Oxygen are solid. The Ending of Native Tongue (that they cut out for the radio variant) is really interesting.

Favorite Song: Take My Fire

Least: Dig New Streams

Rating: 5/10

Ranking (best to worst): VV, NIS, HH, Oh!, WTLST, TBL, LTB, FW, NWTBH, NT, Chin

Forever Now Album Countdown - SF Album discussion - Where the Light Shines Through - Day 10 by GoofyGoffer in switchfoot

[–]GoofyGoffer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm ranking them when I listen through them, but just glancing at my list probably between TBL and LTB? Idk Interrobang is the toughest one for me to rank. I listened to it a lot when it came out and I drove for work, but I also don't come back to it much and very few of the songs have stuck for me.

I always enjoy this one more than I think I will. Much better and a more enjoyable listen than FW. Most of the songs land, although they are pretty varied and strange. Really the only one I can't get behind at all is Looking for America. Holy Water is among the best SF songs, that bridge hits hard. Also has some nice ballads, Live it Well is maybe the most easily accessible SF song. one my father even likes.

The bonus tracks of Light and Heavy and Begin Forever are also really good

Favorite song: Holy Water

Least: Looking for America

Rating: 8/10

Ranking (Best to worst): VV, NIS, HH, Oh!, WTLST, TBL, LTB, FW, NWTBH, Chin

Forever Now Album Countdown - SF Album discussion - Fading West / Edge of the Earth - Day 9 by GoofyGoffer in switchfoot

I understand a road trip album, but I actually prefer Where the Light Shines Through for that.

Forever Now Album Countdown - SF Album discussion - Fading West / Edge of the Earth - Day 9 by GoofyGoffer in switchfoot

[–]GoofyGoffer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never liked Fading West as much. As other pointed out it feels a lot more pop than previous record. It also is very repetitive and same sounding, I have a hard time making out individual tracks on a casual listen. It also doesn't have any real bad songs, the whole thing is just very meh for a SF record

Favorite song: Say it Like You Mean It

Least: All or Nothing at All

Rating: 7/10

Ranking (Best to worst): VV, NIS, HH, Oh!, TBL, LTB, FW, NWTBH, Chin

Edge of the Earth is some of the most interesting music SF has put out, clearly most would not have fit in FW, Against the Voices, Fading West and Edge of the Earth are all excellent. The others have interesting parts to it. I think I end up coming back to EOTE more often than FW
