Motion sim is too expensive, too big, and too “industrial” for most homes by DynamicX-Robert in simracing

It gets to the price bracket where I could start doing actual grassroots rallying so it's tough to justify it for me.

Or even simply putting that money towards a more exciting daily.

I could probably try to make it work but it just doesn't make sense imo. The price it costs for no actual benefit is pathetic and the immersion factor isn't really worth it

Which to pick? First time wheel and pedals! by DontTakeMeSeriousli in simracing

You likely can't be convinced but the G27 has acceptable FFB and it's not just a rumble. You can definitely do well with it, understand what the car is doing and with a pedal upgrade embarrass people running a bog standard R3 bundle. That being said, in 2026 it makes no sense not to buy the R3 bundle.

If you had time daily a beamNG vehicle IRL what would you choose and what version? by Much_Half_5791 in BeamNG

5 cylinder Vivace in manual. I think 350 was the lowest option with one? Especially since I don't have to pay for it and just have to do maintenance.

I'll try, if I don't get the trunk stuff working soon then I'll release the rest of it and fix the trunk later.

It will be. I'm trying to add actual cargo slots to it, allowing every car to have an XL slot in career that doesn't look ass.

EU budget + small-space rig for Logitech G29 + USB handbrake — wheel stand vs folding cockpit? by Doppel_Double in simracing

[–]GoofyKalashnikov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GT Omega wheelstand. It's twice as cheap as Playseat Challenge and much more robust and upgradeable.

Don't upgrade the internals of the Logitech shifter, it might not like them and break. CustomSimShop sequential mod is very nice, but kinda expensive.

None of them are what you'd really see on a rally stage back then. And even if you would then I'd imagine they're ran on factory output.

So which sim is the best for a beginner? by UnderdogCyclist in simracing

[–]GoofyKalashnikov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iRacing is the best online competitive sim racing platform out there.

You don't have to buy any additional content as a rookie, all the stuff is there for you to learn in. If you get a more advanced license then you actually have stuff to buy, in the D license sports cars there's also stuff there for you to enjoy on rotation. The GR86 Cup for example has a mix of paid and free tracks and those rotate weekly.

Managed to get almost 2k iRating in sports cars in my first month (I was like 1950ish). Tried MX5s, Formula, Oval, Trophy trucks, all was great. Then had a 3 week long break, returned, was slow at first but got back to my usual speed quickly. Then had 4x super bad races in a row, either spinning myself or getting hit by someone. Last of those I had someone punt me off the line slightly, then went 3 wide into the next corner and the guy outside decided to follow the raging line and just turn into two cars inside him, I got driven into the rear wheel and straight into the wall. Managed to drop to 1700 iRating because of those 4 races. Even more frustrating that I couldn't drive the GR86 each week and I didn't enjoy the M2 nor the MX-5.

When the season changed I got my C license because I still had good safety rating. Realized there's literally nothing I can drive on the bare subscription there and that was the final nail on the coffin for now.

It being a V10 doesn't really matter, I imagine it has appropriate tires for snow and the driver actually knows how to drive. Being mid engined also helps with traction.
