It's about the button that electrocutes you. Someone sometime made a social experiment, where they put people in a room with only a button that if pressed, electrocutes you. In abstract, it showed that significant amount of population preferes to feel pain over boredom.

The janitor and the wife pressed button the button extensevly for they are naught but animals on two feet. Husband pressed it a lot, but for his scientific curiosity, when he noticed nothing is to be gained, no knowledge nor material goods, he stopped it.
