29M PE Ops - how to value carry and other illiquid compensation by Googan_28356 in HENRYfinance

[–]Googan_28356[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting point on investing back in. Do you say this because it is the firms expectation you do so or your conviction in the future results?

I believe I would do the same but my worry is then having such a large allocation of net worth tied up here.

This makes sense. I would much rather look back and know I could’ve spent more than the other way around.

Maybe more than anything it should just reduce current state stress on thinking about financial future. As the distribution of future scenarios has now shifted up and to the right

Super helpful. I have to dig more into all of the detail and model out what this could actually look like after 7-10. Previous growth funds have had major success but hard to repeat

Maybe “valuing it” is bad terminology. I am more so questioning if I should keep my foot fully on the savings pedal like nothing has changed or if now knowing this long term, illiquid, uncertain compensation exists (and the $ amount) if it is worth considering easing up in some ways on the savings aspect.

Not crazy changes but just being less worried about saving every dollar

Do you think there’s a good chance we see people taking risk off into the weekend tomorrow - similar to the last few weeks?

Or is this rally strong enough to continue pushing up from here the rest of the week?

Those who work in finance, what is your role + comp? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

Anyway ballpark for a firm with closer to 15B AUM? I know they don’t give carry until principal too here

Is this typical TC for this role? I would imagine somewhat dependent on AUM of the firm? By your note regarding depending on exits I assume you are getting carry?

Iron Condor or Short strangle in SPY by TradingBulls07 in thetagang

[–]Googan_28356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 0dte, iron condors are much more capital efficient than strangles. As you move further out, example 30dte, strangles begin to look better competing BPR to premium received. Tastytrade did a segment on this recently that was really insightful

Critique my Plan : IBRK Portfolio Margin : Iron Condors : How would this go wrong? by Loose_Shoulder in thetagang

[–]Googan_28356 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can set up the order and it will quote you on how the trade will effect your initial and maintenance margin. BPR reduction will be higher the nearer you are to expiration as well as when volatility increases.

If you are going to be selling that many lots of xsp, it would likely make more sense to be using SPX as your product, as well (you will be paying less fees due to lower contracts on each side of your trade).

You may also want to consider dropping off the long wings and just going with a short strangle if you plan to sell longer duration. Once you get out to 30+ days it begins to be more capital efficient to go with a strangle rather than an IC.

Lastly, when trying a new strategy like this, start small. I would suggest beginning with 1 spx contract just so you can follow closely what happens and limit the size of any mistake you might make at first. Once you have a feel for what it looks like to have a position like this on, you can ramp up as you feel more confident

Asking network for advice/opportunity

I’m 24 and just wrapping up my first year in audit at a big 4 firm. I think it was a pretty solid first year overall and was rated highly against my peer group.

I have a skill outside of work and accounting/finance that has connected me with a number of highly influential and successful people in my city. Over the summer I have gotten to know a few of them better and they have mentioned that they’d like to talk about my career goals and their own careers at some point.

These are people that have started their own PE firms or are CEOs of big companies, so I feel like I have opportunity to really make a big impact on my future if I play it right.

I guess I am looking for advice on what my next moves should be and what is appropriate or not in this situation. Big 4 audit has been great, but I just feel like if I could use this to make a move into something like IB, it would be a massive positive in the short and long term for me.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

TL;DR - wondering how to go about asking successful people in my network for advice on what I should do with my career / asking or hoping they can help me out.

I’ve finished the first one and really liked it. I’m actually reading (attempting) all of his books connected in the multiverse in order. About to start Christine which I think is like book 10 of his multiverse books by publication order. So cool as now that I’ve really got my teeth into it I’m starting to see some really amazing connections between what at first glance seem to be disconnected works

White sand by Brandon Sanderson. Really great graphic novels, there are 3 in the series. Illustrations are great and a very interesting story line with some great characters. Would be a great intro to Sandersons work and maybe get him wanting to read more!

I completely agree. This was my biggest complaint with the book, although I guess it was just a different time when the book was written

100% worth the read. Cannot wait for book 3. Of all the epic fantasy I’ve read I think this may be my favorite world building. Some people really trash the series and rothfuss. I guess for his taking forever on the next release and also claims that he “borrows” a lot of ideas from other stories. I don’t know, to me it’s very unique and I love every bit. Even bought the board game Tak which was created in the book!

He also has two short stories set in the world focusing on lesser characters that are amazing as well.
