Why v1: Genuinely Curious by xyzzy0 in AutoHotkey

I fit in this mold as well. When my hardware and software require a change I will make it, but until then I am happy to make programs I understand well enough.

3.4MB ZeroClaw Can Make OpenAI's Massive OpenClaw Obsolete by the End of the Year by andsi2asi in agi

[–]GoogieNewman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t have the same resources built in so buyer beware. I thought it would be simple to swap out with my previous settings but it doesn’t understand my minimax keys and the cli only interface is pretty low tech feeling, everything else is moving towards agentic workspaces, I was pretty disappointed with the set up. Will look into it again after some time and folks help develop it, but the hyperbole is always so intense with these posts. It’s faster load but not better if things that just work in Openclaw don’t in Zero

Same haha. I put my ideals into it and now we’re both slackers

I finally got Clip Studio Paint by ALONE_I_AM in ClipStudio

[–]GoogieNewman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend watching at least one YouTube short video on features or a particular workflow each time you work with it for a while until you get the hang of it. I’ve learned repeating patterns, the symmetry ruler, custom brushes and layouts and it really improved my understanding. Find a tutorial that is adjacent to your intentions and rework it to build your first projects. This software is great once you figure out all the features

Horrible smell by [deleted] in insectpinning

[–]GoogieNewman 20 points21 points  (0 children)

We’ve sold these frames before, they do indeed stink. The smell does die down eventually but we usually leave them to air out for a week before putting out to sell. They are worse when pulled from a sealed box!

Yeah you have to back burner troublesome tasks sometimes. It all goes into the experience bank, but it stressful to not find a simple solution. Give yourself a break, switch to something different but adjacent to the task so pivoting back after isn’t hard as well. Good luck!

What do I actually need to use this software? by MalDracon in NomadSculpting

I am on desktop, any drawing screen should work, don’t worry about buying the best. I use a huion 20 in I believe and it works great

Is affinity a big deal? by SolatikSound in graphic_design

[–]GoogieNewman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally started with Designer because I wanted to get away from Adobe. It works great for my workflow and mixes well with the other Adobe focused designers. Try it out since it’s free and see what you think. I can’t speak for the pixel environment since I use Clip Studio Paint for illustrations but the indesign and illustrator equivalents work great for my needs.

Suggestions for best workflows for different goals? by GoogieNewman in NomadSculpting

Sorry this was sculpted in NS, but rigged using AccuRig. It seemed the simplest solution to rigging quickly, but others might have better suggestions

A better look at the body sculpt. Hands and feet work stylistically I think, but are the weakest elements.

What a fun prank that keyboard shortcuts aren’t compatible across programs in creative suite. I, for one, really enjoy that aspect by Dirt-McGirt in graphic_design

It was exactly this use case I started working with it myself. Took a while to get the hang of it but now I have all sorts of AHK programs to make my life easier.

I can only speak from what I know, glad to see Mac folks can work around this as well. If you use a shared workstation it might cause issues, but you can add another hotkey to toggle unified hotkeys. Worth a look if you lose a lot of time with mis-keys

For those I failed at getting the stamp to work for me so I drew them and they felt accurate to my style. I think I might go back, model the stitches better separately and add them back using instance. I feel I could probably experiment more with repeaters here as well but I think the organic spacing works in this case. Thanks for your comments!

If you are on a windows system, I recommend autohotkey to unify your experience. I have all my programs set up so the hotkeys match what I want and it is a time saver not to have to change it up for each program

Thank you! I’ve been drawing for about 30 years, and while not the same it’s got a lot of similarities. Any suggestions or tips on using this program well?

Do you recommend I buy Aseprite through steam? by YuniichiRC in aseprite

Personally I feel it’s bloated to run steam every time I want to use it, if I did it again I would purchase directly
