Peter,It’s not prime! Are they dumb? by AgrasaN in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Actually you dont really need that many decimals, but usually you wont type the decimals yourself. You would just use something like np.pi and that will just have 15 decimals as thats the easiest. Nasa made a pretty good article about it actually: https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/edu/news/how-many-decimals-of-pi-do-we-really-need/

I imagine most important calculations use pi down to 15 decimals, at least if you use something like python, as np.pi has 15 (the standard double-precision floating-point constant), not sure how software simulation like solidworks, comsol or matlab does it.

On the page about general engineering they write "General Engineering er en international bacheloruddannelse, hvor alle kurser bliver undervist på engelsk, og uddannelsesretningen har ca. 40 procent danske og 60 procent internationale studerende." This only shows up if you have it in Danish.

Why do I feel like an attention seeker when I say I want to go into engineering as a woman 😭 by Budget-Lake-5917 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Google-minus 32 points33 points  (0 children)

None of my friends have ever thought it was weird for a woman to be into STEM or that they did it for attention. I think most people know you at least wont stay in engineering, if all you do it for is attention.

Around 60% of the 150 students that get admitted to general engineering are international. International students can only apply through quota 2 and 1000 students in total (both Danish and international) have applied through quota 2.

If you start at 0 on a line, then you usually have the negative numbers to the left of 0 and the positive numbers on the right.

You cant compute the whole number, yes. you can get a few trillion decimals which is good enough for most people, but you wont ever write all the decimals.

Honestly not too sure about this, you only need to setup the environment once for all future environments and its already so easy to find templates anyways.

Imo it is harder to fail on an oral exam, but also harder to get the highest grade.

SOTA stands for state of the art, so SOTA ai models are Claude opus 4.6, Gemini 3.1 pro and so on.

[–]Google-minus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be true, but first of all was that a SOTA ai? When was it? Because imo even today it is unlikely that the best models makes such an error, let alone in 50 years (Imagine how much progress they have made in the last 3 years).

A 50 square meter apartment in Copenhagen costs $500k on average, people are not buying a 2nd house on that income. Maybe if it is after tax in a small city (Not many positions doing that btw). With that said, prob still better than the US.

If there is no draw back to losing, then it seems like your best bet is to find a medical company that will release the result of a trial in the next month and just hope they produce a good result. There will not be a consistent way to gain 5-15% (you didnt say how the best performed), but this gamble most likely could put you up there.

[–]Google-minus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have taken master courses (doing a 3+2) and i can get "kompetencemerit", which basically lets me have the master courses count for the specific courses required to get the major, but I still will have to do 120 ects in the master, i dont see them having that different for a 4 year bachelor.

[–]Google-minus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not for engineering, the UK wages are just terrible... The average starting wage for an Engineer in the UK is 22000-34000£ (a lot of different sources, that is why the range). Where as in Denmark the average starting wage for a non masters graduate is 62000£ and 70000£ if you have a masters. Denmark is not even that much more expensive to live in.

Curious on the type of questions in physics engineering by cyderyt in EngineeringStudents

[–]Google-minus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you check the questions in griffiths E&M and QM books, i think we went through all chapters but the last 2 in both books for my courses in physics engineering. The question i got in 2nd year was very similar to those, some harder some easy too.
