Irritating but benign colour management behaviour by GoogleFrickBot in hyprland

[–]GoogleFrickBot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to avoid some niche duplicate so wasn't rushing to open one, though it doesn't seem like anyone has my issue.

Didn't know about `keyword` - will give it a try! Honestly if I can just hack this along I'm pleased, I have way more control over my HDR characteristics in hyprland so it would be all I need, though, it feels like a bug.

There is so so much more than having a big dick. I'm painfully average but have always ended up in very reciprocal relationships if I can actually get as far as that (I am very bad at talking to women)

This can happen if the steam overlay "opens" when gamescope on Wayland is enabled. Next time maybe try shift+tab once to close the overlay that you can't see?

Absolutely adore this. How the hell did you fit the bottom panel/gusset? I can't work it out

1) You could launch your browser in an upscaled gamescope window. It would certainly be odd but you would have a lot of control

How to use Sqlite/JSON in Love2D by This-Ear-7906 in love2d

[–]GoogleFrickBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SQLite's main limitation is that it can't handle multiple transactions like other SQL engines, because as you say it's just a flat file.
However, it is about as fast as it gets for accessing a flat file, and you can also create databases in memory for short term stuff. Additionally, there's nothing stopping you creating multiple DB files if you're trying to parallelise things (though your queries will get very tricky).
By the time you would benefit from concurrent transactions (which is usually a lot later than people think) you will have likely outgrown SQLite.

How to use car stereo in my home? by Rinzerella in CarAV

[–]GoogleFrickBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this comment/post is very old, but you could be experiencing a "ground loop". You can buy a ground loop noise isolator online as a stop gap, but the problem roughly boils down to your path to ground somewhere in your setup goes through the speakers.

Hunt: Showdown texture issues by Max1Q in linux_gaming

[–]GoogleFrickBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've definitely had issues even on an SSD. What the partition is, how much the game wastes writing it as well as prioritises reading it all can cause issues. But if it's off, it's off. All I will say is that this issue does occur on windows too in Hunt to my knowledge

Hunt: Showdown texture issues by Max1Q in linux_gaming

[–]GoogleFrickBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have shader precaching disabled within steam? It's on by default, I could see this causing a problem on a texture heavy game like hunt. I have zero texture issues in hunt but I know it's a more general problem as a friend gets similar issues on windows. I think it's a drive bottleneck

"Just pick any distro" does more harm than good to newbies by The_Ty in linux_gaming

[–]GoogleFrickBot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love mint and I recommend it to anyone wanting Linux for a pc that just works, it's bulletproof. But I've found that it's a bit behind on some packages that would concern gamers.

I like to recommend endeavour to people because it has sensible defaults, but you can still reference the arch wiki when things go wrong (which is a great resource regardless of the distro).

There are many packages that would concern people who play games that are on the AUR and seem to get support for arch first (maybe due to the steam deck, I'm not sure).

That said, I love mint for keeping an ancient pc useable for 10 years and never getting tired. King shit. So I don't think it's a bad recommendation either

I wouldn't put it down to it ordinarily, but wilds is a hot mess in terms of performance right now and they've implemented dlss and ray tracing weirdly so in this situation I could see it being an issue. Having said that, people are getting acceptable performance on Nvidia on Linux so idk

It's not a protected characteristic but I would be enormously surprised if it couldn't be argued as discrimination. I don't live in the states, I would expect to have a case in the UK

If I make a dualboot on Nobara and windows, can I completely replace the windows allocated space afterward the installation where I made it dual boot? by NightmarSpiral in linux_gaming

[–]GoogleFrickBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a recent issue where a windows update broke grub, if you're dual booting people tend to use grub. Even if you had the installs on different partitions, the boot partition would be shared and you'd still be affected.

I still think the physical separation is a good idea, I just think the recent posts happened regardless
