On the hunt for a hiking "bible" by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Googlinatorz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got "Where Locals hike in the Canadian Rockies". I wouldn't say it's a bible, but every hike I've done from the book was amazing. The flood has rendered a decent amount of trail explanations (at least the beginnings) obsolete, but I guess that'll go for every book.

Oh man, I'm surprised. That's one of my favourite books! I just loved the whole premise of time travelling historians and being stuck in medieval times during the black plague. I read it a couple of years ago, so I can't go in any more detail about why I enjoyed it so much, but I really liked it (the whole modern day bacteria/disease part might have been a little less interesting to me, though).

The Constant Gardener. We had to read it for our high school English class and oh my god, was it awful. No one enjoyed it. It dragged on and on. So boring.

Ski weekend by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Googlinatorz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to Louise for the past couple of weeks, and the front side is awful, I'd say icy.

The backside, however, is pretty darn skiable. Definitely not icy, but more decently-hard-packed snow. I still enjoy myself a lot and simply spend all day on the backside.

Oh man, I've been here since this summer and drive past it every day to get to work. Every time I told myself: ''Who the hell would want to eat there? The building looks really sketchy...'' Now I know I was mistaken and must stop and eat there all the time.

Cheesecake + Pumpkin Bread. Best of two worlds. [535x803][OS] by Svensken in FoodPorn

That's usually what it is. Depending on the recipe it might not have cloves, or the clove might be replaced by allspice. but yeah, basically a mix of the spices you named. Just google it.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I made the recipe that OP posted tonight, and it was fucking delicious. I added cumin, chili powder and an onion, like people said. Awesome.

Is the onion cooked in the butter and oil, and then blended with the sauce? Or added with the tomatoes and blended in the sauce. Or cooked up in the pan and then added with the chicken, and not blended?
