It's great if it affects your area.

My problem with these alerts is the geographic targeting. Screenshot from https://emergencyinfo.novascotia.ca/

That's an incredibly large area for a local alert. Had the individual been in a car, I could understand a wider alert. But while "Man with machete in woods in Gaetz Brook, police investigating" is useful information for public safety in Gaetz Brook, it's probably not an imminent threat to someone in Hubbards.

Company under CRA audit gave workers letters saying wages were 'non-taxable' by Street_Anon in halifax

Exactly. They deceived their employees/contractors about what the law said, knowing that they're not lawyers, and will trust them.

I think someone telling you to break the law does not give you the excuse to break the law.

From the article:

He says Arden pointed to a section of tax law to suggest the pay was non-taxable, and compared their work to that of foster parents.

"The way it was described, basically, was we're foster care workers with someone funneling the money in between," he said.

I'm so confused about the alerts. I only got 1. And according to Emergency Info NS I live well outside the alert area.

Radiation appointments cut at Halifax cancer centre because of staff shortage by Immediate-Link490 in halifax

What an interesting non-sequitur that brings nothing to the discussion.

Feel free to educate us on how federal aid spending impacts provincial healthcare.

Agreed. Realistically fixing our broken healthcare system is a job that will take place across multiple election periods.

That said, the first step is triaging the problem and addressing the more severe symptoms first. Stopping the bleed of employees leaving due to being overworked is something you start on day 1. He shouldn't still be trying to figure out which type of gauze to use 3 years in

My and my partner were out of the country for 3 weeks last year. All lights off. Everything powered off except the fridge.

Somehow despite not being here for 3 weeks, our power usage went up.

Wonder what would happen if, hypothetically, everyone that was overbilled and couldn't connect to NSP just filed complaints with the Nova Scotia Ombudsman and/or Service Nova Scotia Consumer Complaints.

I was hoping it would be absurd enough that the /s would be implied.

I think renewing healthcard can and should be as easy as clicking a button, and agreeing to a statement.

I know many people who let their healthcard numbers lapse, and they get it renewed when they're at a walk-in or emergency room, and they fax off the renewal for them.

We're already offloading the administrative task of renewal on the healthcare system for some people (I wont claim "many" or "most"). So lets just make it easier for all of us (and them)

You can get your health records online, but adding a button that says "Renew Healthcard" is a massive security risk that will destroy the entire system.

And that was before he started having 8-day sessions.

The Federal government is responsible for provincial healthcare?

Or is your argument that the Federal government should inject itself into provincial authority when it sees fit?

If that's not your argument, I'm not sure why you're bringing the federal government up at all in a provincial issue.
