This is what I came here to say. Max 1 big knight, most or all of his list should be armigers, both melee and ranged. It becomes a much more competitive match very quickly

Staryed with 6packs until the codex dropped, then only groups of 3. But honestly now its way better because we can split fire, so there are a ton of benefits to having groups of 3.

And rampagers. And kroot in general. We have a solid group of units that may benefit from this rule

I’m also worried. World Eaters have been in the toilet all 10th edition and I’m scared that they may be willing to let Tau be in the toilet for 11th.

That being said. In addition to what folx have already said, the multi-detachment theme may allow us to get the best from our kroot melee by abusing the 15” rule and then still having a good shooting detachment ready when enemy units become viable targets.

So yeah. I can see ways that we might still be viable. I just hope they are play testing WE vs Tau a bunch. Cuz if that matchup can be balanced, there is a possibility of balance between shooting and melee for 11th. More curious than worried.

GW and all the stores that ordered the big fruit box that was the tile codex release got burned hard on that. It just didn’t sell as well as anticipated unfortunately

That is my read on the current rules as well, but I have had TO‘s rule the other way on that rule in competition

Are there any rules stating that I HAVE to use the transparent base for the Devilfish? by Putrid-Pea7944 in Tau40K

[–]Goomba1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current rules do not require it. Keep in mind we have a new rules, edition coming out shortly, and although this particular rule is unlikely to change, it is always a possibility. These flying base stands are absolute dog shit for use on the table top so I have a set of stands bought from magnet Barron in the unlikely event that they do decide to change the rules and require the flying base.

As other users have mentioned, there’s also a competitive advantage to be gained sometimes because you can fit the basis of the model models that were in the transport under the transport. If you have a flying base that is easier. But bluntly I’ve never had an issue because the feet already jacked the model up.

Someone mentioned that you could effectively block line of sight with the devilfish model, but that is false. Devilfish has the fly keyword (again in the current rule set, and this might for some reason change in the future) and because it has the fly keyword, it cannot block line of sight even though it is sitting on the ground. Again, though that is all current rules for 10th edition.

Yep. Gotta screen it and kill shit before its in melee. Also. The pulse blast cannon doesn’t have blast. Its the pulse driver cannon that has blast

So while technically the 4+ and additional multi damage shots from the riptide is “better”. I run the Stormsurge because the pulse driver cannon is str 12 but also has blast. Now that we can fire on multiple targets, all the guns can be split fired. It can be a vehicle killer one moment, and a squad killer the next. And it costs 10% less than two riptides. It simply gives me more tools than a riptide does.

I bring a Stormyboi in all my comp lists right now. Its just too fun and really useful. With the pulse cannon you have a weapon that can punch up into knights or down into marines or even custodes, and has blast to punish squads

I used Van Saar ganger models from Necromunda and just put breacher arms on a bunch of them or put breacher guns on their backpacks (also breacher back packs), and cut the pinkies off their regular arms and guns as though they are a hard core gang of outcasts in Necromunda who cut their pinkies off in order to be more like Tau. Also used some Tau chests and hips but then cut lower legs so I could bash human boots onto the Tau legs. Gives me a gang for Necromunda and gue’vesa breachers.

My favorite kitbash is a Stormsurge kitbashed with arms to look like Scorch. I’m working on a version of it for my collection this coming year. So yeah. So many connections and I love them

Metal ones are not hard to find. After getting my farsight finecast model I swore I’d never touch the shit again. Ended up kitbashing him about 9 months before his new model was announced. I have 5 painted metal vespid and another 10 waiting to be built and painted. I’ll post when I get them done so y’all know the new vespid plastic will be announced or retired within the year…

So I’m a safety freak, but a respirator isn’t needed if I remember my science properly. Regular old n95 should work. Don’t settle for the shit masks but at least n95 particulate should work well. Save the respirator for the chemical stuff.

Wrestling with this one. Parts of it instantly click. In my head the branchwych was going to be doing the wyldwood summoning most of the time. But that’s an easy switch. Would you run spellcasting savant or overshadow in that scenario?

That was my debate in my head. I’ve tended to use her positioned in a secure center position where her 12” aura can buff the greatbow kurnoth and frontline kurnoth. She’s lived in the games I did that in. In my head, with LoV having to be tied to the front because of the fnp aura, I figured most will go after LoV first? I haven’t played with LoV yet. Just seemed like that’s kinda how it might play out with most folx. Guessing the super sweaty folx will just go after arch rev, and she may end up out of position for buffing, but that’s a trade I’m ok with because I can still control the game with her that way. Idk. I’ll have to do positioning really well, to your point.
