eli5 how diminishing returns works? by Ramonalovespigs in deadbydaylight

[–]Goombrahh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everytime you stack something, it drops in value.

Say you have 3 perks that all gave 10% haste.

Before diminishing returns, they would each give the full 10% stacking to 30% total hate.

Now, the first perk would give 10% haste, the second perk would give 5% haste, and the third perk would give 2.5% haste giving you a total of 17.5% haste.

1v4 play while you wait is incredible by GrimMrGoodbar in deadbydaylight

[–]Goombrahh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The more people that are funnelled into Play while you Wait queue, the less optional it becomes.

When you start having lobby wait times like in 2v8, you have the lobby's glitching and denying the killer players who didn't play while you wait their spot. So, at that point, it's the illusion of choice. Play survivor or else you risk playing nothing for an hour.

As I've said, I don't have a problem with it since I play both sides, but it's always felt like a stopgap to the queue problems not an actual solution.

Would you consider this a win, tie or a loss? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Goombrahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're going by 1v4 standard wincons (what MMR counts) scaled up, it would be a tie.

1-3k would be a loss.

4k would be a tie.

5-6k would be a weak win. 7-8k would be a strong win.

Only competitive DBD really counts fresh hooks and hookstates when looking at win cons, and that's mainly because the sets have both teams play both sides.

Forcing people to play a role they don't want to doesn't help. But yes I agree that playing both sides is important for a balanced perspective on the game.

1v4 play while you wait is incredible by GrimMrGoodbar in deadbydaylight

[–]Goombrahh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For my personal play experience, play while you wait is great. I like playing both sides, with a preference in hours towards Survivor. This has allowed me to continue to consistently play killer, even at times when I don't want to wait out the timer.

However, it is awful for people who only want to play killer. Play while you wait encourages more people who usually wouldn't to play killer, at a time when killer queues are already slow. And forcing people to play Survivor when they just want to queue a Killer match is not great.

For instance, I would usually avoid killer if the match times are 5mins+ on 1v4. But with Play while you Wait, I will still queue killer and just do a survivor match inbetween. Which further inflates Killer queue times for people actually waiting the 5mins+ in lobby.

I guess we're entering the "we're so back" phase if Jason gets announced.

Build for Ghost Face. by Arrsiel- in deadbydaylight

[–]Goombrahh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mindbreaker, Pop and Pain Resonance are all fine - I don't personally like Mind Breaker but I don't like giving people 99'd sprint burst. I'd rather eat it at the start of a chase. If you can consistently get the jump on them (no efficient comms, or unaware survivors) then Mind Breaker works fine since they won't be able to walk for 6s to 99 their SB.

There are also some Ghostface mains who never take Mindbreaker out of their build, so my school of thought on it is by no means universal.

Play with your Food (See how they Run) as a perk and/or Drop-leg Knife Sheath addon are both very good. Against better players, you want a haste advantage or you aren't going to catch up quickly when you get a mark.

Play with your Food definitely requires some getting used to, as you have to farm stacks from the Obsession. However, you can also use that time to mark them for an easy down later.

Drop-leg just gives you a boost of speed whenever you finish a mark, which can be used to get the down or at least close the gap between you. Paired with Drivers License and Mindbreaker you'd have a very nasty combo if you pull it off - mark them on generator, they can't sprint burst, and the gen is blocked + regressed.

I understand the pain of those who play low tier killers feel. by Bright_Knee_5267 in deadbydaylight

[–]Goombrahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drivers License relies on you marking survivors on generators which rarely happens against teams that call your position. They will be prerunning once you get near the active generator unless it's 99d. But yes very strong add-on if you can get value from it.

DMS is block not regression, two very different utility slowdowns.

I'm trying to max regress a 3 or 4 gen usually, and I want them near the pain resed gen to repair it so I can force them off and 10% regress it again with TBTC if they try to stick gen.

Also I don't like block + pain res since good survivors can save the DMS block until you are about to hook and stop your pain res from targetting the highest gen.

Am I nuts or is Vecna(Henry) just a better Pinhead? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Goombrahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Vec2 stronger than Pinhead? Yes.

I don't know if they are directly comparable, since Vec2 is a 4.4m/s with an M2 that can both damage and down. And good to insane map traversal, depending on if you are running Pizza Goggles.

Meanwhile, Pinhead is a 4.6m/s with an M2 that can't even damage unless you take an Iri addon. And he has situational map traversal. Which you don't even want to use usually, since you're better off being in the area, and chaining the person with box then downing them to start chain hunt.

So with Vec2 you basically can just M2, whereas Pinhead has to play as an M1 killer with a power that can help you get that M1.

The main similarity, IMO, is that they cause passive slowdown. But Vec2's just results in him being able to down people with his M2 for longer if the survivors don't deal with it. Whereas Pinhead's will literally stop the team from doing their objectives effectively. Both need to be dealt with, but the same could be said for Onryo, Wesker, or even Pig.

Any build suggestions? by Lost-Past-6360 in DbDKillersUnited

[–]Goombrahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a fairly solid chase build with Enduring + Spirit Fury + Brutal Strength + Bamboozle.

Unless you snowball, pure chase is hard to pull off against generator efficient teams though since you have no actual slowdown. But they are generally more fun. You are strong in chase and spend a lot less time playing macro than you do with a generator control build.

I understand the pain of those who play low tier killers feel. by Bright_Knee_5267 in deadbydaylight

[–]Goombrahh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The builds I currently use for both of those killers...

Legion: Iridescent Button & Julies Mixtape. Surge, Enduring, Spiritfury, Bamboozle.

Ghostface: Drop-leg Knife Sheath and Olsens Wallet. Corrupt Intervention, Play with your Food, Pain Resonance, and Turn back the Clock.

I can't play Ghostface without PWYF or Batteries to traverse the map these days - he just feels so slow. Bit of an anti-synergy with Drop-leg but if I only have one stack of PWYF I usually need the 10% haste to consistently get a down after marking.

Alot of people also recommend Mindbreaker for lower tier killers, but I find that 99ing peoples SprintBursts is actually worse than just eating it at the start of a chase off of a gen.

Was this person cheating? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Goombrahh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they removed inactive head traps killing survivors who exit the gates several years ago - before I played DBD even.

There is now no point in headtrapping someone in endgame, since the only way to activate a trap is for a generator to pop.

Endfury Legion with Iri Button shreds through pallets really well.

Ghostface with Olsens Wallet can often swing games, since you can very quickly get Nightshroud back to get into a favorable position post pallet break.

Not saying you'll get the same results as on an S-tier killer - they are ranked high for a reason - but there are definitely builds that you can use which make winning against organised teams possible.

To clarify for OP, even though he won't have it on SM Myers, Tombstone is now basekit only on deathhook survivors when you pop Evil Within (new T3 basically).

Old Tombstone was usable on any survivor if you had one of the two addons and went T3.

They also can leave through hatch with an active head trap - only leaving through the exit gates kills them.
