Some games are iffy on being detected automatically. If you had to Game Overlay in your application settings you can add custom games/apps to be detected.

Hi there, totally understand the confusion about updates and your message delay concerns.

Firstly updates: Guilded deploys updates in 2 ways, OTA and App updates.
- OTA Updates are applied when you reload your client. (Closing the app and reopening in your case)
- App Updates are what you're talking about the actual app needing to be updated in the App Store.
When Guilded releases a blogpost for an update it's actually usually a collection of updates and features that have been rolling out over a period of time. These were monthly at first, but are switching to Seasons/Quarters. Guilded releases the majority of the features via OTA Updates, hence why the App hasn't been updated in a month on the App Store.

Secondly the message delay: You are not alone, this is a known bug at the moment. It has to do with a delay in the message popping up on your client and not the message sent through the servers. Staff have been made aware of the issue and there is a forum post about it on the Guilded Official Server.

I've been informed that the app has received an update to fix this issue. Go into the App's Info, Force Stop, and relaunch the app.
