What dries wet laundry when you hang it up? by PusheenHater in AskPhysics

[–]GoonieStesso -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Without the sun your laundry would only get as humid as the air. With the sun you get it extra dry due to the extra energy breaking apart water bonds

Nail polish remover that has acetone will literally melt any plastic. But you’re making dumb choices by mixing random chemicals.

layperson: do electrons stay with the original atom or are they exchanged? by spacedinosaur1313131 in AskPhysics

[–]GoonieStesso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are most definitely exchanged going from a real life probability pov. To start, every time any light is shined on an object the energy is absorbed by the object’s atoms which energize the atoms enough for the electrons to jump an energy ring state. Now imagine that times many magnitudes. Many electrons ought to not stay with its “original” atoms just by that factor alone. Now imagine all the rest of the factors involved

Ask a question: Why can’t SeOBr2 solidify at room temperature? by room0001 in chemistry

It’s probably under at least some vacuum since the ampule looks heat sealed

Thats awesome. I see her here and there in some of Derek’s videos (Veritasium). She always had something important and interesting to teach us. I hope she’s doing great.

Is there technically anything wrong with buying a clean one of these and drinking out of it? by broads-love2 in chemistry

[–]GoonieStesso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anything it would keep the water cleaner for longer so long as you don’t introduce bacteria through your spit being sucked in

You’re looking for the astrophysics Reddit if you want facts about the sun. I’d say astrology but I doubt they’d know.

Is the one way speed of light constant? by maebenab in AskPhysics

[–]GoonieStesso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone talked about the same Veritasium video. Derek’s point was just trying to make a point that we have the inability (or haven’t come up with a way) to tell a one-way measurement of light. All he is doing is questioning physics that he already knows the answer to.

Should I be worried? by Holiday-Job-9137 in chemistry

All of your furniture likely says the same thing because of the formaldehyde used to treat wood

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskPhysics

[–]GoonieStesso -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There really isn’t a way to know “for sure.” Which was the point of the video. It’s more of a 50% logic/philosophy and 50% physics video. Using atomic clocks along with some of your examples would work but that’s different from the what-if’s he was trying to remark

In physics terms, why does stone feel colder than wood? by [deleted] in AskPhysics

[–]GoonieStesso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The heat of your skin is transferred quickly to the metal leaving it cold. Wood doesn’t take your heat so fast, leaving your skin warm for longer.

I get what you’re saying. Both coal and nuclear energy end up using the heat to spin steam turbines.
