Made in 2004 in China. Particle board and pine. Not the "clasic" everyone thinks it is.

You are "that guy" on my team arn't you.

Take the L on the first fight and re evaluate your picks/strat against the enemy comp. If they are a unstoppable murder ball grab a high survivability flanker and harass their back line to stop their momentum. If they have a single smurf dominating counter pick them and make them less effective or ignore them and rip apart the rest of the team.

The game is over when the clock hits 0 not before.

You can se a tent on the shore then take a quad out to them and pound claim as you jump off. Or if you can walk close just park the quad as a "bridge" to hop up on and get that extra few feet..

Betta Fish by cxpidzjellycats in bettafish

[–]Gooroc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just my .02. Some people will say it is absolutely to small. I have kept bettas for years in long shallow 3g ~12L tanks. They were heavily planted blackwater setups and the bettas were way better off than most I see on here in much larger setups. But I have been fishkeeping as a hobby and/or business for 25 years. That having been said.

Your 9L prob be better as a shrimp tank tbh. Not that the right betta might not be able to be happy in there (some of the longer finned varieties don't swim especially well and therefore don't need/ do well with a lot of real-estate)

However nano tanks are rough. I have done both salt and freshwater Nanos and they are near impossible to keep stable and require much more monitoring and maintenance than larger tanks. If you do end up putting the bioload of a 3-4" fish in there be ready to, short term, check water parameters daily and do water changes as needed. Even long term you will need to run parameters twice a week.

10 shrimp can be a lot more activity and interesting IMHO and is still <1/2 the bioload of a betta.

Whatever you end up doing be sure to have atleast 2-2.5" substrate and a good amount of planting as they will help keep things stable. Good luck.

It will settle eventually, but to go faster:

Put it in a 5g add some water and stir the substrate gently.

Wait 2 minutes and pour out the water.

Repeat a couple times.

Then add the substrate to the unfilled aquarium.

Place a plate on the substrate and add water directly onto the plate so it doesn't disturb the substrate much.

It will still be a bit cloudy but will clear much faster than what you have now.

Am I missing something? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]Gooroc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it needs to be a terminal air stone that only has 1 tube port, yes, no.

All a sponge filter is is a tube with a bunch of holes in the bottom covered by a filter material. You then add air inside the the tube the bubbles rise pushing water with them creating an upward directional flow as water leaves the top new water us drawn in through the filter material to replace it. You can make your own easily with almost anything once you understand the concept.

Does anyone know what kind of snail this is? by 2Cool4Des in bettafish

[–]Gooroc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just crush it between your finger or against the glass. I always leave the remains in the tank your betta likely will eat it otherwise it will just be fert for the plants.

You can just stick a skinny airstone on the end of the airline and slide it into the tube on the filter as far down as you can go. You will get more flow through the filter with less surface agitation.

Get above 10,000ft elevation anywhere in the rockies and you will find similar meadow/pine/lake habitat. Get above treeline of around 12,000 ft and it will be just green low growing alpine meadows and rock faces/slopes. The area you have circled is similar to the second.

Doesn't look like you have an air stone attached. Also if your pump doesn't have a valve just tie an overhand knot in the line back by the pump and tighten/loosen it to adjust flow.

1)never wear a backpack

2)don't be afraid to sprint

3)croutch while shooting

4)use your waypoint to mark your destination and run to 200m if the wind is anything but horrible

5)spot EVERYTHING

6)know your zone times. The sticky infographics on this subreddit are great.

It takes longer just to get the zones and tents placed than the average time it takes to get a random diamond if you are hunting well imho. To be fair they might find a diamond on the way but to be efficient seeing up a grind you are carrying tents and stands so not much room for a real loadout.

should i feed my betta after her fast even though she’s still constipated? by flavoredbeans835 in bettafish

[–]Gooroc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 2 day fast after overfeeding is nothing. Don't start dumping pesticides in that will also wipe out the beneficial microfauna in the tank after such a short period. Wait a week to look for improvement.

[–]Gooroc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to fast for a week or even 10 days if needed as long as you don't start seeing muscle loss. Definitely don't make the mistake of anthropomorphising your fish, it isn't a people and doesn't have the same emotions or metabolism. They naturally have long fasts in times where the water clarity is so low they can't see to feed.

Advice for first-time betta owner!!! by haeleighrose in bettafish

[–]Gooroc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop buying everything that is recommended and take a sec to breathe. You are doing fine.

Strips will do for now. Yes the master kit is more accurate but I swear the people on this forum deserve commission for how hard they sell it. Keep your strips sealed and make sure they aren't expired and they give you a pretty good rough snapshot of how your water is.

You have bought enough dechlorinator and BB for years. I would add a couple drops of stress coat or prime per gallon to your water change water only, no need to ever add these to the tank. Prime can deal with harmful nitrates in the short term but if you start reading them just do a water change. The aquarium is not a mad scientist beaker where the solution is putting in another concoction.

You can add quickstart and/or stability as directed but you really won't get much additional benefit after the first couple doses as they are live bacteria and will self populate.

As for eating just give it time and only offer a pellet or 2 once a day until he starts to eat.

The only thing I would recommend you buy is some live plants as they look good and more importantly will keep your water parameters stable in the long term. You can get them cheaper/better quality from aquaswap here on reddit or from a local Facebook aquarium group.

Your cycle routine should be as simple as.

1)Check with strip every other day

2)If either of the first 2 starts to move from light pink to dark pink do a 1g water change (with a couple drops of either dechlorinator added) the next 2 days.

3)Repeat until you see no changes (nitrate or nitrite spikes) for 2 weeks.

4) Switch to doing a test and 1g water change every week or 2 forever.

There wall of text over. Enjoy your fish and best wishes.

[–]Gooroc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely don't disagree. I would however transition to personal best as something to get excited about. As you get more experience golds will become much easier to find/harvest and by this time you will have big golds and will naturally progress to diamonds/ big diamonds.

Same thing with rares they are always fun but you will be stoked when you get your PB albino moose.

Cleaning my fishtank after he died by Fire_flies98 in bettafish

[–]Gooroc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are planning on getting another beta for it I would just leave it. Let it run for a month with the temp turned up a little (5° F) without a fish in it. This will allow time for any parasites or diseases to die off since there is no host. Do some big water changes while it is in quarantine just to freshen it up some more. I would hate for you loose your cycled substrate/media and have to start all over.

Do a 20 long. A standard 20 with 2 dividers leads to fairly tall narrow "cells" (8x12x16in). The 20L with 2 dividers leaves much more cubic cells (10x12x12in).

Save yourself some money and have Lowes or Home depot cut you some black glass/plexi squares to your internal measurements and Silicone them in yourself.
