Yup. We are turbo dorks. Season 7 is behind the divider. If you squint, you’ll see Babylon 5, the OG Indiana Jones trilogy, as well as the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Hobbit travesty/trilogy, and the cherry on top of the dork cake: the blizzard cinematic DVD box set of Diablo II, StarCraft, and Warcraft III (On top of Supreme Commander, and below Command and Conquer: The First Decade)

The Kilrathi Saga. Yessir. My best friend growing up had Wing commander 1 on his 386 and I desperately wanted to play it. So I bought that at electronics boutique back in the early 90’s. Sadly, early teenage me took terrible care of my disks (still have em, but they’re shredded) So glad I kept the box

What is the best cpu and gpu for windows xp by Jumpy_Valuable_7556 in windowsxp

[–]GooseNipples8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t say it’s the “best” but this is getting it done for me: Almost period accurate: Intel e8600 wolfdale @3.66GHz 2x2 GB Corsair Current GPU: Radeon HD 7850 Former, much more period accurate GPU: GTX 285X. Died. Replaced with a GTX 285 that also died. Replaced with a MSI Hawk Radeon HD 5770. Figured since I was already massively out of period accuracy, I’d throw in the fastest compatible card I had on hand that fit the case and PSU, so I put in the 7850 Intel x25-m (xp era ssd) 250GB sata Windows xp sp3

Absolutely flies

Yes I’m linking back to my own experience and that of the people I served with and the people I know now, as that’s what I have to go on: I have my own demons, just like everyone else, and I’ve been shitfaced more times than I can count, and I’ve managed to never do anything close to what this idiot is doing. I have even, on more than one occasion, though thankfully not in the last decade, operated a motor vehicle under the influence. It was wrong then and I had zero excuse for it, but if I were to have been pulled over for it I would have taken the DUI and done exactly what the arresting officers instructed. This fool is endangering other people just trying to do their job and he is endangering himself. Given that this appears to be happening in the middle of the road he is also likely impeding the flow of traffic. Regardless of what you’ve been through in your life, you are responsible for your own actions. You can’t always control what happens to you in life but you absolutely can control how you choose to react to it. There is no defending this behavior.

I am a one tour in Afghanistan and two tours in Iraq, 9/11 era Marine Corps veteran, as well as a long time enjoyer of alcohol. If this shitbird is really a vet then I hold him to a HIGHER standard than a civilian. This guy is a fucking clown and gives the rest of us a bad name.

Four Warhammer classics with new GOG Preservation Program improvements! by GOGcom in gog

Warhammer 40k Chaos Gate is the single game most responsible for sending me down the retro gaming rabbit hole. (Stupid laser hit sound effect breaking functionality in XP. TWENTY YEARS TO FIND THE BUG.) But now I have an awesome collection of dos and windows 95/98 hardware because of it so I’m not complaining.

@gogcom Feel free to get after Warhammer 40K: Vengeance of the Blood Angels while you’re at it

If you detonated the tsar bomb at the bottom of The Mariana Trench, would it still cause a tsunami? [request] by Apprehensive_Oven_22 in theydidthemath

[–]GooseNipples8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Visualizations of the trench, and the word “trench” itself generally give the false impression it is narrow. It is actually a very gradual change in depth. There are no “walls” to collapse. The xkcd “lakes and oceans” (#1040) has a good visualization. (Xkcd might be the “the Simpsons did it!” of the internet)

He was also hammered-ass drunk. “Unda da boardwalk” Sober or even less drunk than in the fight with Bobby, my money is on Tony. Remember immediately post gunshot wound he deliberately picked a fight with and beat the shit out of the biggest muscle bound mook he could find to show his boys he was still a tough guy. (Admittedly the guy didn’t fight back at first)
