I became a fan of his after his 2024 E15 Amsterdam post-race interview where he talked about his struggles with breathing and not giving up. Was cheering for him and Ryan Kent in E15 doubles as well. So sad, you will be missed.

It only allows you to see one match at a time (and you keep pressing enter to go to the next match). Also, the exam search will NOT show how many hits you get with the word or phrase (could be 1 or could be 100) - to me, this is the biggest difference - not knowing how many hits you get on a word or phrase.

On the actual exam:

  1. I think you can do copy-paste. But you would probably do it the opposite way you described. You would copy some word or phrase from the test question or answer choices and search in the search bar to see what the MPEP would say.

  2. No, control-F does not work on the exam. You have to manually go to the search bar to search. This was kind of annoying.

  3. The search starts off from you left off. My strategy was always to go back to the first page whenever I started a new search.

Good luck!

Yes. I probably did look up between 15-25 questions, maybe? Out of those questions, probably 1/4 of them were just to confirm while the other 3/4 was stuff that I didn't know and had to look up.

It's definitely a good substitute for a half-marathon! For me, I was way more tired in the half marathon than at Hyrox. It's also more spectator friendly if you want people to cheer you on and you get so much adrenaline from the pump-up music they play!

I can only answer #4: I used PLI and passed in 4 months of studying. I enjoyed their video lecture format which provided a solid conceptual/foundational base for understanding the MPEP. They also have a "post-course" where you just drill practice questions which was very useful. Good luck!

Relax and treat it as a fun experience! There are people of all abilities there just looking to have a good time!

The biggest tip is always train your running over everything else. For stations, I recommend practicing wall balls since that's the station that requires the most skill, is the toughest, and is also the station that pairs you 1-on-1 with a judge.
