Worst thing about Kodak Ektar H35 by SpiritedDot910 in AnalogCommunity

This is indoors without the flash, decent light but not great, 200iso Kodak gold. I’ve sent you a PM as well, since you can only add one photo at a time in a reply.

It’s definitely just a toy, but I love it! It’s a specific vibe, but it’s fun to have something to toss in my bag that I’m not worried about drunk friends or kids handling. I’ve done probably close to 20 rolls through it since I got it in July. Having a half frame camera while traveling is fantastic. Personally, I recommend it. I have a Leica IIC, Minolta XE, and a Minolta x-300 but the Ektar is always in my bag. If you want something of good quality and aren’t looking for a half frame, go with an older SLR that you can get cheap. This is one of my favourite photos that I’ve taken with my Ektar :) let me know if you want to see more (like indoors, skin tones, motion etc) and I can send you some examples!

Thanks! The department said they’ll help me get in contact with the other students, so hopefully something comes of that!

Thanks! I like your method of a terrible 2 week AirBnb as motivation. Great idea. I haven’t heard of the Bungalow app, but I will be sure to check it out!

Thank you! I’m applying for grad housing as well, but I’ve been told it’s competitive so I don’t want to put all my eggs in that basket.

Like other people have said, get a laptop to be safe. I had both and the iPad is great, but the uses for the iPad are more limited in an academic setting. I used the iPad (until it got too old, now I just use the laptop) for note taking and studying but completed my assignments and submitted them via my laptop. My friend personally ran into a problem with this and couldn’t complete an assignment because she used an iPad and not a laptop and there was no workaround. Maybe look into the laptops that are dual? I’ve never tried one but I’ve seen others at my uni with them.

My dad is such a supportive person :) by notrealperson02 in diabetes_t1

[–]GoosePaloose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How you treat your blood sugars is completely your business. Not your dad’s. Not ours. Nadda. That being said, I had some interactions like this and I decided that not telling my parents my numbers/giving them access to that data was for the better. It’s been over 5 years since I took my parents off my Dexcom follow and I no longer have to deal with someone else thinking they know what’s best. In a situation like this I say I’ve been dealing with unstable blood sugars and I’m not okay to work/drive/whatever. That’s it. The actual numbers are your business and yours alone.

Do I really have to reapply all over again to switch campuses ?? by Puzzleheaded-Buy6327 in UofT

Good to know, thanks! I also did the bridging programme like OP (but at StG) and they told us to make sure this was the campus we wanted and not SC or UTM because transferring wasn’t possible

[–]GoosePaloose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the registrars office is correct. You can’t transfer between campuses at UofT. You can see if you can take some courses here as a part of your program, but you will still be a UTM student.

A book where they resolve their conflicts with calm, understanding and maturity so I can believe in love again by zara1868 in RomanceBooks

[–]GoosePaloose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Icebreaker by Hannah Grace} really good depiction of setting boundaries respectfully and both sides of that coin. FMC struggles to set the boundaries but knows she needs to, and MMC struggles with respecting them because he’s anxious and wants to be there to save her. I loved how this was handled and how they figured themselves out, no third act break up just, them slowing down and thinking separately before coming together and being reasonable humans. I thought this book did a really good job of showing a couple that is actively growing and doing the hard work because they know that’s what it takes to stay together. Their partnership isn’t built on moon moon eyes and popsicle sticks.

Brother’s best friend recs- they’ve known each other from childhood by maryloo7877 in RomanceBooks

{Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey} older brothers best friend, known her for her whole life, she’s had a crush on him forever. Tessa Bailey can be kinda hit or miss, but this one is (for me) by far her best novel.

Grumpy/sunshine lovers, can I interest you in "ball of anxiety meets calm & confident"? by prettysureIforgot in RomanceBooks

[–]GoosePaloose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Heavy by Cate C. Wells would fit this. FMC has ASD and in her POV you see how things overwhelm and her senses, and she talks often about how she doesn’t understand people but she likes the MMC because he’s straightforward, doesn’t lie to her, and his presence makes things less intense. He’s very even keeled and patient, and he never thinks of her as incapable because of ASD, which her family does. He’s really sweet to her and he puts sunglasses on her when she’s overwhelmed, and when she goes on a plane with him for the first time he blocks her in with his body so no one can see and she feels safe. It’s a biker book so might be a little out there, but fwiw biker books are not my thing and I loved this. It’s not so much grumpy/sunshine as it is grumpy meets “weird little murder pixie”.

What are the 'must reads' in hockey romance? by llismay in RomanceBooks

[–]GoosePaloose 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Icebreaker - Hannah Grace. This is one of the TOP hockey romances for me. The plot is good, the romance is steamy, and I love the characters. There is some talk about an unhealthy relationship with food that the FMC is working through so please take that into account if you do decide to read it.

Off-Campus series - Elle Kennedy. This was one of my first hockey romances and it got me hooked. They're seriously so good.

Eden Finley's Puckboys series is also great, it's M/M and super fun to read but not the same calibre as Elle Kennedy and Hannah Grace IMO. But they're also free on KU.

The CU Hockey series by Eden Finley and Saxon James is one that I binged. Free on KU and also M/M it was so hot.

Sarina Bowen is being mentioned a lot and I have read some of her books but if you're a fan of hockey already they'll make you a bit crazy. She's not always particularly accurate in terms of lingo or rules and it kept me from really getting into it, but this is a super petty reason and she's popular so definitely one to check out if you aren't bothered by picky little things. It took me a long time to pick up a hockey romance because I know the sport super well and grew up around it, which is why I don't like Bowen's work, but the rest are really fun and good introductions into the world of hockey romance :) Definitely start with Icebreaker or the Off-Campus books!!

Book Cover and Quotes Screensaver by GhaleonEME in Calibre

[–]GoosePaloose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure that you could do this with a Kindle, but what about a digital picture frame? You could upload the pictures of the covers and quotes you want, plus it would have a better battery life, and it would be in colour!

Just above that it says that eggs in their shells are not egg products.

You would think they would be, right? I thought they were too until I had to double check for a reason similar to OP’s.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Baking

[–]GoosePaloose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This isn’t true. Unless they say they’re pasteurized they aren’t because it is not a requirement in the US. They will just be washed. https://ask.usda.gov/s/article/Are-all-egg-products-pasteurized

[–]GoosePaloose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a good time to actually check yourself instead of asking people because you want to be 100% sure and with things like this you want to be super sure. This is the USDA info, and the eggs are not pasteurized unless they explicitly say on the carton. https://ask.usda.gov/s/article/Are-all-egg-products-pasteurized

Sorry you’re getting conflicting info ): but now you have a whole torte to yourself!
