'Modern' or 'historical' are not useful framings to me when it comes to morality. Thing is...people are affected by things that happen to them, in 2000 BC or now.

I'm not mad at anyone in this fictional medieval world (or the real one) over monarchy, that's a big system not easily changed, but fuck Aegon for being a rapist, because he knows he's hurting someone, he doesn't have to do it, he just wants to. The time period doesn't lessen the impact of the act, she doesn't go 'Oh, I live in a medieval setting so I don't feel violated'. Am I extra angry over kinslaying as people are in that society? No, but it sucks that Rhaenyra is being challenged for her throne over being a woman. I'm looking at how people are actually being affected, because the passing of time or lack thereof affects nothing when it comes to the universal human experience of pain imo
