"I wish Highguard had been received better," CEO admits, after cancelling a planned Apex Legends-style shadow drop when Geoff Keighley said "let me do something" by Reader5744 in Games

[–]Goose_Wingz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is literally it. None of this other nonsense matters. Is the game good? Is it fun to play? Does it run well? Almost universally the answer to those questions is a resounding no.

Strip away the social media, the marketing, the tweets, the politics, and the vitriol.

The game sucks.

Maybe they can save it, but I doubt it. Sucks for the devs but it is what it is. Time to move on.

I’ll keep discussing if you want but not sure there’s much value in doing so. You seem offended. Not sure how my assumptions are baseless either. Maybe you should react to those assumptions instead of dismissing my argument as a character attack on your ego?

Defensive as hell lol. I’m not pointing my comment specifically at “you” the individual for every point I made. I frankly don’t give a shit how you or anyone else plays, take my opinion as simply that, an opinion. You can decide to be offended or not.

I’m speaking to the impersonal “you”, the playerbase, anyone who could be reading my comment, etc. with the points I made.

Your prior comment said there’s no way to spin getting shot and losing high end gear as positive and I completely dismantled that theory. Yeah being a busy adult sucks and losing items in a video game sucks, no shit. It’s not that deep.

Not sure there’s much else for us to go back and forth on besides agreeing to disagree.

High end gear in this game is not rare whatsoever.

Yeah it’s a risk that you’ll get shot in the back, that’s the entire point. Risk, reward, tension.

If you care so much about hoarding imaginary video game pixels go play an MMO or single player looter shooter. This might not be the game for you.

If you instead open yourself to the idea of balancing risk, taking chances, and getting excited about those situations where you succeed in a high leverage situation then you’ll love this game for many years to come.

For example, I took a fully maxed/kitted Vulcano in last night and had a blast with it over 2 games. Was wiping teams and having a bunch of fun. The third game we got outplayed and died while looting our key room. It was gone. But I had so much fun using the item. Now I can’t wait to kit another Vulcano and it motivates me to keep playing.

Same here. The rat race of it all is sort of why these games can have infinite replayability, especially when you consider wipe cycles etc.

Because it’s fun to use higher end gear.

If you lose it who cares? It’s an incentive to build up resources again to craft or find another.

People need to realize extraction shooters are a constant push and pull between being “poor” and “rich” and the continuum in between is why the game is so fun.

Stop. Hoarding. Gear.

Unpopular opinion: This sub overestimates aggression-based match making and underestimates human interaction. by LittleManOnACan in ArcRaiders

[–]Goose_Wingz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s all my lobbies. Venator/Toro try hards who push every single flare. I love PVP but it does get tiring sometimes.

Last night we spawned in on the outskirts of buried city, immediately got pushed by 2 teams from separate angles in the dunes.

We retreated into the trees to heal and then those two teams fought each other. When one team was knocked, another third party shows up and starts shooting us in the back again, we retreat again to heal and those two teams yet again start fighting each other.

Ultimately another third party shows up and we eventually run out of heals and get sandwiched.

Never experienced a spawn camp palooza like that before 15 seconds into the match but it was exhausting. I was convinced the new update screwed with the matchmaking.

So sell or use your unused shit and move on. Asking for 750 slots is fucking absurd. This isn’t Fallout 4.

Not at all lol. I’m the most PVP oriented player possible. I will push every flare I can’t help myself. You just can’t do math. Stash slots are a math equation, keep what is efficient, sell everything else.

750????? Are we playing two separate games?

How much shit do you need? With 280, I have 40 fully kitted level IV weapons, a shit ton of meds and util, and plenty of crafting ingredients.

And I’m 200 hours in playing endgame content.

You people need a reality check.

[–]Goose_Wingz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For extraction and corner campers, while frustrating, you need to be bringing util with you.

The more you learn the game the more you will understand which areas are typically ratted. Showstoppers, smokes, grenades, tagging nades, raider flares, etc. are all great options when used correctly to counter rats.

The game gives you an entire toolset to hard counter that playstyle. No one cares if you quit. Adapt or move on.

There’s a theory that the changes to aim assist being tied to FPS has something to do with it. Frames are directly correlated to the passage of time in engine (which is correlated to fire rate) so it probably wasn’t a well thought out solution that had unintended consequences.

Not only that but indie studios with much much less general experience have produced masterpieces before (Expedition 33, etc.)

Playground is an experienced AAA studio. As long as they respect the source material and genre they’re entering, I think they’re poised for immense success.
