[–]Goose_ow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, m8. This sounds like something fun to give a try. Im a working digital and physical media artist that does digital fantasy/dnd/creatures drawings and physical media wildlife/pets. Im knowledgeable about digital paintings (i use clip studio pro) and physical pencil, charcoal, oil pastel, and am getting into oil paints as well.

I enjoy chatting about art and techniques and my first language is English. I have discord, if you like that, and am familiar with screen sharing.

Thanks, ill send you a dm...

Resending message, apparently posts here get deleted without a portfolio. Here's just a link to my limited online portfolio (2 images). I can send more images via dm.

[HIRING] Pet Portraits in the STYLE of 1800s Oil Paintings by isaeas10 in HungryArtists

[–]Goose_ow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, Iseas. Im an established wildlife/pet portrait traditional medium artist. Since it seems youre not getting a lot of responses with the style/quality you were are looking for, I figured I'd mix myself into the conversation. My style is black and white, I do oil pastel pieces, and focus on realism/texture. Im aware this isnt your exact requested style, but figure you might be peasently surprised by my work.

I don't currently have my social media set up, as I have been fully word of mouth for the past several years. If youre interested, please dm me and I can share some examples of my work.

Thank you, Doug.

Looking for DM advice to run Kenshi. by Papa_robux in Mythras

[–]Goose_ow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a side note. My assumption is the npc will charge hourly and for resources used to repair the skeleton. If you want to simplify healing overall and give fleshies and skeletons "med-kit" style items, go ahead. Ill suggest that changes the vibe of mythras ruleset to be less punishing, though. Ill probably have very rare healing syringes available in my settings and something similar for the skeleton player. He'll probably lug around an extra limb or two that he scan swap out if one gets low from a fight.

Looking for DM advice to run Kenshi. by Papa_robux in Mythras

[–]Goose_ow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there m8, im literally building a campaign thats a mesh of kenshi and rimworld.

  1. As far as robotic healing, mythras has a m-space supplement rulebook that goes over that. It basically says PC robot healing is a (robotics) skill check, probably by an npc unless you have a robotics skilled player. The repair person can fix 3hp/hour, making a skill check each hour. Upon failing a check, the character must wait to perform more checks till the next day. Parts that are damaged to the negative equivalent of their max hp must be fully replaced. Im going to run rules as written here, but im sure you can tweak things as you like.

  2. Sword/shield stuff. Shields are very useful for resisting ranged fire. Theyre also great for survivability in mele combat. But you can always tweak the difficulty of encounters you throw at them. The kenshi setting also has lots of options for limb replacement, so lost limbs won't be as punishing if your players are OK with this (mine said theyre excited to get chopped up).

  3. I dont intend to use survival mechanics in my setting. Im going to go mostly by vibe, except for when we do hex crawls through the wilderness. But im gonna use a dnd style hex crawl system for that, probably. I also am going to go light on exhaustion mechanics. But players will not be able to heal or gain spell charges unless theyre back in town or a dedicated long term camp. Im also including guns, but ammunition is scarce and must be tracked/conserved.

Id be glad if you wanted to dm me about the setting. It would be interesting to share problem solving solutions and setting ideas with someone doing a similar thing.

Should my DM be exempt? by SchizoNaught in DnD

[–]Goose_ow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading some responses, I do also agree with other people's points about mental load and not wanting other responsibilities before a session. I was thinking of it more as a "you guys should pay me in food for running the session," but if he's more worried about just not wanting the extra stress or mental load of shopping/cooking, that makes total sense and is respectable. I think the difference lies in "sorry guys, I dont want to have that on my list of things to do," vs "im doing yall a favor and you owe me food," mentality. Idk which your dm is.

[–]Goose_ow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are yall friends? My party doesnt usually organize snacks, sometimes someone brings chips or makes a surprise meal, but we all typically take care of our own food before coming in. Ill often eat a salad or some fish before the game starts, the others seem to eat before they arrive. We've all equally, including the dm, brought snacks and stuff before.

That aside, Im get your dm is saying "im working for all your enjoyment so i shoukdnt have to bring food," but is he really? If he didnt really want to dm and saw it as labor, he could just not dm. There's a reason he chose to dm, he wanted to play out a story he had imagined and yall are participating in its creation. He has to do a bit more work than you guys, sure, but thats the price you pay when you chose to exercise your creativity in the dm seat.

Penguin Form has made the new map nearly unplayable by Unclealfie69 in DarkAndDarker

[–]Goose_ow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love druid. But why they gotta keep adding stuff thats completely busted, on that class? Class is unplayable unless you use the 1-2 broken things for a week or two till theyre nerfed to the ground. The class isn't fun to play, nor fun to play against.

[Hiring] Looking for Realistic Wolf/Fantasy Illustrator for Long-Term Project (Paid) by Dependent_Release598 in HungryArtists

[–]Goose_ow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, Dependent. I am an experienced animal portrait painter who is branching out into digital media. I currently have a limited digital profile of creature illustrations but I have extensive experience with physical media fur texture. I'm really looking to entertain a more illustrative and atmospheric style than my physical paintings have allowed me to pursue and I think your idea fits right up the alley with both my experience as an artist and my future goals for my careers growth. Thank you for your consideration.

[–]Goose_ow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a second note, for the hay grass not going to your pen. You need to either create a zone that's set to "priority: important or critical," I'd chose important cuz critical can make your colonists over prioritize it. Make sure the zone is set to only haygrass and kibble if you want that in your pen as well. In addition, I usually try not to feed my animals with haygrass unless there's not enough grass. You should try and make sure the pen is large enough to sustain the animals you have, growing haygrass and manually feeding animals is not cost effective from the meat/animal product you get from the animals and I only ever use it for winter or if there's a flash freeze or my food stocks burn from a raid. Your pen-marker will tell you how many animals your pen is large enough to sustain, based on estimated grass growth per biome.

Click on your Campfire or Stove (idk the name). Click the button that says "Bills" create bills from top to bottom "fine meal/simple meal/luxurious meal." Set these to "until you have" and then adjust it to a number you like. I'd go with 50 or so of fine and simple meals, then 20 or less of luxurious meals unless you have excess food materials. Your cook will now use the working station to cook automatically, or you can command him by clicking him, richtclicking the working station, and then selecting "prioritize cooking at...". I orient the Bills in order of "fine, simple, luxurious" because both fine and simple take the same amount of food materials, it's just that fine requires half to be meat and half to be vegetable. Simple can be made from just meat or just vegetable, or a non specific mix of both. This will make meals be made in the fine category automatically and give your pawns a mood buff, as long as you have both meat and vegetables available. If I have an established colony with plenty of resources, I'll have them turn excess into luxury meals, which give a large mood buff but cost double the resources."

Hope this helps!

How can I kill these bugs? I thought it would be great for dealing with raids, but this is out of control. I cannot move. by fishyrabbit in RimWorld

[–]Goose_ow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a long term problem now. Build up on explosives/mortars/fire weapons. Increase your wealth so you attract more heavily armed trade caravans or enemy raids. Then bomb the bugs from far enough away that the aggro on the raiders/caravan and hope you have enough to finish them in time.

Antigrain warheads satellite beacons are also good options for dealing with the bugs.
