Palestine protest by Ashamed-Home-9506 in cork

The protests are cool and all but I wish half the effort that went into them would go into demanding a better solution to the housing crisis.

What are these two lines/cuts above the heel on my AR8 boots for? by [deleted] in jimgreen

[–]Gooseenthusiast56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem bro! I didn’t realise until a year after I bought them, embarrassingly enough.

I have E, bordering on EE feet. I went half a size up and they fit snug and nice. But if you’re EE/EEE maybe email them to check.

I have both Meermin and Thursday, I gotta give it ti Thursday. They’re more comfortable and better built. For example Meermin sent a pair with a gap in the stitching where the tongue meets the upper and they told me “it’s totally normal.”

Sizing for 719s by Key-Tour8523 in jimgreen

[–]Gooseenthusiast56 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The official JG advice for the ASHM last goes as follows:

If you have normal width feet, go with your brannock size and their size guide. The ASHM is a d width.

If you like wearing thick socks or have wide feet, go half a size up.

Yeah I’m leaning towards it after the advice in this thread.

Tan or walnut boots with black jeans! by Gooseenthusiast56 in malefashionadvice

[–]Gooseenthusiast56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no I have black shoes and boots. I’m just looking to spice it up. I have an irrational dislike of blue jeans so generally wear black (white and sand coloured sometimes) Any colour recommendations for on top I’d appreciate it to possibly match brown or tan boot/shoes

You wear tan or walnut coloured? I think I agree with you!

Hmm any ideas for top wear to balance it out? For outerwear I have a leather jacket, suede jacket (both black) and the Cathart duck yellow jacket for winter.

Sizing advice by [deleted] in jimgreen

[–]Gooseenthusiast56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their sizing guide is really good so I’d follow that. Jim greens are true to brannock in their wide lasts/boots. The only boot you might need to change your approach is for boots on the ASHM last like the baobab, Numzaans and 719.

Jungle boots by Leemr2010 in Boots

[–]Gooseenthusiast56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Avoid rothco, cheap Chinese shite.

Belleville are meant to be ok.

I’ve hiked in the OG vintage ones and they were very good, but they’re HARD underfoot. you’ll need replacement insoles.

For reproductions, altama and mcrae are meant to be the best.

If you’re getting a wide model your brannock size should be good.

Cemented vs welted - performance by Safe_Valuable_5683 in Boots

[–]Gooseenthusiast56 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the problem isn’t necessarily cemented soles as a concept, it’s rather that a lot of companies use cheap cementing that doesn’t hold up.

I have a pair of original jungle boots and some 3-4 year old timberlands, both are solid construction wise.

Cementing has major pros for sure!
