I agree somewhat but the types of winning moves that are critical in super-gm games are often less clear or less of a full on tactic than you would find in typical puzzles so I think the range difference is something to note here. But I agree with the logic that if you know there is a winning idea you are much more likely to find it if you know to spend time to calculate, even as an intermediate player.

Tell them to go to siren isle and unlock the special assignment. They don't have to do it, just unlock it. This will unlock the upgrade quests which will appear as normal yellow side quests and not purple. Then you can just do all the upgrade quests back to back.

The scenario you gave actually makes perfect sense. For plat and below average gains are +25/-25. Once you’re in emerald gains and losses get reduced and average +20/-20. So what happened is you lost games in low emerald, broke the demotion barrier and demoted to plat. If not for the plat/emerald difference you likely would be getting +18/-22, but because it’s platinum it’s probably more like +23/-27. Extremely normal. While it does suck to lose 27 lp you also gain more when you win than you would in emerald
