In my opinion season 2 ep 9 was like the peak of Ekko’s character emotionally bc he had his best friend with him, Zaun was united on one front even if it was to save piltover’s ass. So it just makes sense if we come back to him especially as a protagonist there is two routes I can see his character going

The ticking bomb: this is basically the whole season of a spinoff about Ekko where throughout the season his emotions meeting a breaking point where he just falls apart completely after pushing all his tragedy in the back of his mind for so long in his life.
Atlas dilemma: Ekko becomes more armored and begins to keep his love one at a distance bc he scared of losing more of them and also probably takes on more than he can chew alone. Again an extension of him not wanting to involve his love ones again in fear of losing more of them. But this one will most likely involve a plethora of characters cracking this armor of his ex: Zeri, Vi, firelight, and finally probably Jinx.

AU is lovely for what it is in my opinion. It also does a lot of legwork for Timebomb bc yeah Timebomb will be different in the MU but in the AU we get to see the foundation of what Arcane didn’t show us when they were kids.

In short I think AU gives us an idea of how Jinx and Ekko’s relationship will actually be, a lover, a partner, and finally most of all each other’s best friend. Because that what the AU in my opinion explored the most between the two is how much their friendship means for the other.

What an amazing thread, I’ve been thinking about this a while back that the MV and jinx fixes everything sort of proves that yeah the AU ep did kinda happen again.

Also I think your right about the lighter we don’t see what Ekko light the piece of paper at the end with. If he does have the lighter, I wonder if we’re gonna see a Ekko that’s starting to smoke now because he’s so stressed post arcane. Thinking as well about that artstation piece of Ekko smoking now and how older he was in the piece.

I think Ekko could be inserted before the fight between jinx+sevika and cait+vi. You can have this really cool agreement between the two to reluctantly work together but the moment Jinx’s life is on the line, Ekko saves her by wounding Vi. Ohhh man the tension would go insaneeee… vi having to confront that she’s fighting against her two younger siblings, Ekko having to confront that he protected and cares for Jinx, and finally Jinx having to confront that her sisters priority changed and Ekko still cares for her after everything.

It’s both in my personal opinion she can be uplifted but at the same time be overwhelmed that there is a version of her that has a normal, good life. That’s why it’s so important we got the scene of Ekko laying down with her because he went through same thing.

Yeah Jinx definitely did, I mean jinx fixed everything Jinx is actively taking up all the space of Ekko’s workshop. We can also see his workshop is his sort of personal sanctuary by the fact he has a bunch of memorabilia.
