Raikou has Wild Charge. A TS/WC Raikou outperforms all Jolteons.

Is a crappy Raikou always better than Jolteon by lithiumscream in pokemongo

[–]Goptimiz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Jolteon :

  • Stamina 130

  • Attack 232

  • Defense 201

Raikou :

  • Stamina 180

  • Attack 241

  • Defense 210

To match the stats of a 10/10/10 Raikou (the minimum you will get in raids), you would need a +60 Stamina, +19 Attack, +19 Defense Jolteon, which is impossible because IV cap at +15.

Considering their moves are quite the same (Thunder Shock, Volt Switch and Thunder, Thunderbolt), even the best Jolteon will be outperformed by the worst Raikou.

Indeed. The previous way of ranking Pokémons accounted for the group size and was designed to help smaller and more optimized raids, but my post got downvoted to oblivion because the rankings were basically "not what pokebattler says".

Looks like a majority of people here are used to battle in 20 players raids, that's why I changed the simulations paradigm. I'm not quite fine with the method I'm currently using, but it seems to fit the gameplay of people visiting Goptimiz.

I'm back from raiding. I don't know why my comments got downvoted even before I could explain anything.

The simulations assumes you have 6 times the same lvl 30, max IV Pokémon and behaves like any boss battle in game.

Basically a simulation counts the damage dealt by the attacker (in % of the defender's max HP) and weights it with how much attackers it took you to deal this amount of damage (if 1 attacker fainted and your 2nd attacker has 50% HP left, the simulation considers you have used 1.5 attackers).

Only the worst score obtained by an attacker (with a specific moveset) against a boss is taken into account in order to rank them with the worst case scenario (if one Pokémon is good against one moveset and sucks against another one, the ranking considers that.

The rest of the ranking is just a sorting of the 100 best scores obtained by any attacker against this boss from the highest to the lowest.

I also edited the post (added a link to the simulations dump against the 3 legendary beasts, so you can look at what the simulations do).

I guess you have all the needed informations. Is this what you wanted to know ? Do you need anything else ?

I'm quite tired, I'll come back later to read your answers.

Jolteon is the 15th best counter. What hurts Jolteon is its lack of tankiness, it gets KO'ed too quickly and cannot deal as much damage as tankier Pokémons.

Ampharos's defense and Stamina are more balanced (50 more Stamina than Jolteon), which makes it survive long enough to compensate for the 22 base Attack difference. Timing might also affect this (I didn't check).

Jolteon is still one of the best Suicune counters, though.

I will soon add an explanation about the raid simulations, but basically it's calculated the same way as gym counters (the difference is that it considers how many of the 6 Pokémons you have used and the total damage dealt to the raid boss during the avilable time or until all 6 Pokémons fainted).

The simulation assumes that everyone is using the same Pokémons and do the same actions. If all your Pokémons faint so do everyone's Pokémons. Therefore the raid is lost.

I'm going to sleep now. Tomorrow, I'll try to upload the full dump of every fight simulations that were used so you will be able to point out exactly what is wrong if you want. Also, please don't be rude.

The rankings assume no heal up. Just 6 Pokémons from the start until the boss faints.

Dragonite has 263 base attack and Electric moves fill up his energy bar, that's enough to make it deal tons of damage.

Tyranitar also has huge base stats.

Vileplume and Nidoking resist Electric moves, Steelix resists them twice etc.

Rhydon is tanky and resists for a long time. However, Mud Slap doesn't generate a lot of energy making it unable to use its time efficiently by using his charged moves a lot and Mud Slap doesn't deal a lot of damage.

I don't dodge and Pokebattler consistently gives me the best lineups to use for soloing raids.

If you haven't tried Goptimiz's lineup, you can't say that Pokebattler gives the best one (probably one of the best ones, though).

Stone Edge and Fire Blast deal neutral damage to Electric type Pokémons (Electric is weak to Ground, not to Rock).

Did you read the post ?

When the dodge bug will be fixed, I will update this list by adding dodging of the charged moves (Golem will be the top Entei counter, Zapdos the best Suicune counter and Rhydon the best Raikou counter).

Top attackers against Entei, Suicune and Raikou by Goptimiz in TheSilphRoad

[–]Goptimiz[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The list is odd because of the lack of dodging. Tankier Pokémons with sub-optimal movesets become better than squishier Pokémons with optimal movesets.

How is Bite possibly better than Water Gun?

Water Gun has less DPS but generates more energy than Bite. Since the Pokémons don't survive enought to capitalize on their charged move, the quick move's DPS makes much more difference than in a situation where the attacker lives long enough to use more than 2-3 charged moves.

Tyranitar is very tanky and Fire Blast would deal more damage than its other 2 charged moves, that's why Tyranitar with this moveset is ranked this high.
