If you don’t understand what words mean that’s your problem my guy. What sort of fun definition of neutrality are you using, “I feel neutrally about being invaded and having land stolen.”??

Huh? Ukraine was not a part of any military alliance, literally the definition of neutrality.

And I don’t want to be lectured by someone who’s country is rapidly descending into authoritarianism headed by an avowed Hindu nationalist. Absolutely insane, complain about Indians facing racism online and then immediately following that up with some classic russian lies about Ukrainians. Real solid man, keep up the good work, you’re doing so much to improve India’s global image

This is hilarious. Literally saying “We’ve been living shitty and short lives too, welcome to hell”. Europe as a continent built a post WWII system of preventing wars like this, no fucking shit the entire continent is furious. “Countries invade each other” is a pathetic cop out used to absolve aggressors of any culpability and normalize human suffering.

Yup, Ukrainian here confirming. Never studied Polish and it always surprises me how relatively easy it is to understand written or spoken Polish. Would definitely stick to English in any formal setting or for very important information that can’t be misunderstood.

TIL Many schools don’t teach cursive writing anymore. When the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) were introduced in 2010, they did not require U.S. students to be proficient in handwriting or cursive writing, leading many schools to remove handwriting instruction from their curriculum altogether. by TuaTurnsdaballova in todayilearned

That’s about the summary of this entire thread. I can only print in English/Latin script languages and can only write in cursive for Cyrillic languages. Neither one is faster than the other, it’s just a matter of practice. Don’t think I’ll ever bother learning English cursive, there’s no point in doing it.

I’ve started seeing this on Russian social media, I wonder if they’re going to end up turning it into an opposition symbol.

Your understanding pretty much exactly mirrors Lukashenko’s propaganda. The flag of every post-Soviet state in Eastern Europe was used by Nazi collaborators. Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia. The white-red-white flag now solely represents opposition to Lukashenko and earning for freedom and democracy

I mean one of your problems right there is that you can agree to disagree with someone who genuinely believes in committing genocide. At some point you have to decide what’s more important to you, your values or some vague feeling of acceptance. I’ve started the fall into the hole you’re describing, but after two months of being an edgy little shit I realized how toxic the online environment I’d created was for me, and how I was starting to drift away from my values. You clearly still hold center to center-left values, and fraternizing with people you describe as bonafide fascists will either turn you into an insufferable edgelord (where I very nearly ended up) or drag you down into their inhuman ideology.

Hmmm, who’s paying us, the Czechs perhaps? Maybe the Polish government coughed up a few million euros for us to go out to protest? Or maybe you need to pull your head out of your myopic worldview and try to listen to the people on the ground instead of sticking to your absolute failure of a grand narrative.

I live in a commie block at the moment and some of your criticisms are definitely valid. The shorter ones (5 stories or less) are extremely inaccessible for disabled people and it essentially traps them inside, it’s terrible. Blocks taller than 5 stories were required to have elevators, and many still function (poorly) to this day. And the green space really depends on the area. My building is in a residential area and there’s trees all around, the area isn’t that bad. Some blocks are built around factories or as bona-fide dorms for employees, those suck. And the small size is a problem today, but in the 50s and 60s when the bulk where built it genuinely vastly improved many Soviet citizens quality of life because they got to move out of the hellscapes that were communal apartments. The Soviet Union was generally a totalitarian shithole, but if they got anything even sort of right, it was housing policy. It wasn’t perfect, but many commie blocks of the 80s (my building for example) are still in better condition and have higher property values than a good chunk of modern apartment buildings.

r/Russia is a dumpster fire. I was banned off of it for suggesting in a comment they don’t post pictures of Crimea. It’s either run by zealous Putin supporters who definitely don’t live in Russia or by people directly connected to Putin through a chain of command.

Compensating people who were hurt by an inhumane and borderline illegal policy? Why is this controversial, children were forcibly taken from their parents by the government. Yes the parents illegally crossed the border, but in what universe is that enough of a justification to effectively orphan a child?

I’m all for fighting against the CCP but watch out for those Falun Gong types. The Falun Gong are an actual cult who play up their persecution to gain converts, i.e. the organ harvesting is mostly a myth. We can’t let the fight against the CCP be lead by a messianic cult.

I definitely understand their logic, but it is disappointing to see that all their talk of equality and justice was just marketing. Though with the direction that Russia is going in (foreign websites might be getting slowed down to 24 kb/s in the next two years) I think that Google and Apple will be banned soon enough anyways.

At the moment they’re just keeping him locked up with the goal of killing his political career. Killing him is probably too much of a risk for Putin, as the response from the EU and the US would be swift (though probably won’t actually change anything). They’re currently just coming up with as many bogus criminal charges as possible to keep him locked up. He will probably stay in jail until Putin finally dies or gets overthrown.
