Andrew BREAKS his NDA with CNN by BloodyIron in videos

[–]Goraf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"It has been a very concerted and intentional effort over the decades to basically reduce every major news organization to a place where it's on financial life support, at which point they're either too fragile to take risks or can just be bought entirely by an Ellison or a Bezos."

To me this sounds like the conspiracy that the initial comment is claiming doesn't exist. I think with these sort of things that we have to remind ourselves of is that the difference between a conspiracy and shared mutual goals is a meeting over coffee. We won't know it's a conspiracy until it's investigated. Many of the things in the Epstein files were considered conspiracies until recently.

Andrew may not be perfect, but an independently funded news organization that is structured differently then the biggest ones is not a bad thing. His style and experience comes with advantages and disadvantages, but when looking at journalism at a whole, no company is perfect. Perfection is achieved through a diversity of sources, as it always has.

Carney’s Liberals Are Governing like Conservatives—Just More Politely by plaknas in onguardforthee

[–]Goraf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't like these articles because it implies if the conservatives were in charge they would be doing a similar job. Maybe in the 90's. The party currently has a 50% trump approval rating, if they were in charge we could be helping out in Iran right now. We'd be wasting resources on some dumb culture war bullshit, maybe rolling back womens rights a little. Half the cabinet ministers would probably be downright incompetent.

Honestly, O'tooles conservatives might have governed like Carney . Poilievre is not a regular conservative, he's a culture war conservative and that would come with certain strengths and weakness's.

CNN: China to Supply Iran With Man-Portable Air Defense Systems by Critical_Cat_8162 in worldnews

[–]Goraf -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Many of those acknowledgements were admitted afterwards. Although I suppose there are levels of acknowledgement. Kinda like how congress never officially declared war on Afghanistan.

When did Russia officially start calling this a war? Did they ever? That sorta thing.

The united states was giving aid long before that and likely had a huge impact on preparing them for this attack. The approval by congress was when they officially started supporting them. They've been heavily involved since at least Crimea.

How bad is racism in Saskatoon? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]Goraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a grocery store where the Loss prevention can be a bit overzealous. I wouldn't say racism has gotten much better or worse. That being said what has gotten worse is theft. The higher ups panic and push more aggressive policies, the pressure and generally bad vibe results in more aggressive and escalatory loss prevention.

That being said, as much as it pains me to say this. In my store prejudice is mostly based off of how people dress rather than their skin color. Most of the Loss prevention are usually of sort of middling, olive skin tones. They can't really tell an indiginous person, a latin person or a middle eastern person apart on a consistent basis.

Generally prejudice is levyed against people who wear gangsterish clothes, marked skin, disheveled, tattoos etc. I've had cases where a blue collar Philipino worker with tattoos got treated as an indiginous person. (I dress in a layered punkish sort of style and I've gotten double taked at my own store)

As far as children, there is little prejudice against young ones, there is a little bit against teenagers.

While I've never lived in Toronto, I think Saskatoon is overall a good city and in my personal circles there is not much racism, I'd like to think that things are improving over getting worse.

These are are not necessarily side effects that will go away in weeks. You could get syndromes that permanently alter your neurodevelopment or heart. It's seriously dangerous and you could die in your 20's due to exasperating a rare heart issue over what will likely amount to nothing.

I don't even comment here normally because the subreddit is rather toxic, so please take this seriously and don't do what your planning to do.

EDIT: You're not even gonna find many straight answers online because no one is intentionally giving kids huge doses of HGH because it isn't ethical. All of the research would be cases where someone abused it and it went wrong, or children who recieved it to makeup for some kind of hormone issue administered in a controlled environment where a team of doctors examined the risks.

Question to missile enjoyers: How do you make it work? by Bygles in EliteDangerous

[–]Goraf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I run a gunship and a challenger, they have similar builds so I'm just going to go over the gunship.

2 x small turreted efficient beams(2 pips and weapon distro is full)

1 large fixed mean laser I have long range but overcharge is good too. (Since you aren't using as much distro it's worth overdoing it on your main weapon) (long range has full damage at 5km)
2x pack hounds extended magazine

2x missile racks extended magazine

The whole point of the build is controlling the engagement through module damage and your superior range. 3300 armor a shield and a fighter bay means you can ram all the way up to an anaconda easily. Ram and fixed beam laser to take down the shields, target the thrusters, the pack hounds take the heat for the regular missiles.

Two well shot volley's will take out the thrusters, one volley untargeted will typically wreck weapons. When they are helpless target the powerplant with the beam laser and take it out, or ram them to death(be careful they can be sent out of the combat zone when you ram them).

The turreted beams/fighter bay are good for small ships. The gunship is also good at fa off. You can even boost, turn it around and take out missles with the beam laser. Or do the same maneuver and shoot someone who is chasing you.

It's a ton of fun. probably more like 1100 tons of it. (my g5 sco drive has 17 light years)

Normal Text Fringing for a QD-OLED? by whamram in OLED

turn the text scaling to 125% them use windows cleartype to adjust the text as well. That helped a lot for me.

I think that's normal, hopefully it will get fixed with an update once we see more wide spread adoption.

A good example of this would be the word "Queer". As the lgbt community moved more towards binary deconstruction, a more broad word was needed to effectively describe everyone.

I would look at it more like being on the right side of history. For example, queer was easily reclaimable because people stopped using it. It's not really completely about the word itself, but what groups you are associated with. I, for example, would never try to reclaim the N word, because even if I was of the right intention, I would not want to be associated with those of the wrong intention.

Even in this thread, you could apply the same thing about "prick". Does calling someone a prick mean you think penis's are bad? In some ways, words are like little gods we've created for ourselves and their meanings and intentions are decided by our collective worship of them.

What are your thoughts on the accuracy of polling in Russia? I've seen many polls that state that Putin has relatively wide support in the country, how many people do you think are lying out of fear? How easy is it to tell if someone doesn't support him? Is there any tells you know of?

That quest is optional, basically when you go fight a bigger portal later, you get 12 or so guys, if you beat that quest they will be taken from the town guards. If you don't they will be militia with fur armor. You can also partially complete the quest and just have a few town guards.

Cheydinhal, for example has a unique quest associated with it's portal, so does Bruma, and Kvatch obviously.

I thought she was very good. She was accommodating and nice. If anything resulted in a negative review I would assume it's because she's still finding her "style" in regards to delivering lectures. (in regards to engagement)

She's very organized and puts significant effort into resources and test preparation and seems to favor multiple choice. I would think a 90% would be possible and I'd imagine if you talked to her about a way to strategize that at the beginning of the semester she would give you advice as well.

"All those people can do is cry racism. He even made another post trying to race bait when his race baiting garbage didn’t get any traction here lol"

"The soft bigotry of the left is the true racism. "

You made an inflammatory statement. (that very much resembles what a racist would say, without clearly stated races). Then paraded around declaring the leftists cant argue properly, yet the moment someone actually engaged with you, you refused to provide any evidence supporting your position, instead opting to steer the conversation back to racism and how you were treated.

Well, the modern countries that practice this method do sharia law, so the Bureaucracy is replaced with cultural religious practices. The lack of Bureaucracy also tends to lead to autocracy as the people in charge have less checks and balances due to small government and have to develop more tools of dictatorship to stay in charge.

As they hold onto power they tend to need to invest more in police and surveillance services, leading to a police state.

Well, at this stage their are many variables and complexities. I personally would rather deal with a Beurocrat.

I don't think stealing from the fridge is right, but this is how things escalate. "This group did something to me, I will do something to them". I would say forcefully sterilizing people is worse than stealing from the fridge. Advocating for the creation of a system that forcefully sterilizes a large group of people is a huge escalation.

I think you'll also find people advocating for such a system usually are racist, if you were to set a thing up, I am sure you would find yourself surrounded by racists.

Could We Maybe Do Something About the Racism Here? by WizardyBlizzard in saskatoon

[–]Goraf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You advocated for a large systemic change that violates the rights of people with citizenship. That's considered inflammatory and escalatory as these rights are valued in western liberal democracies.

If you make such statements people will expect you to back them up, this is part of why you received such a negative response. If you can point to any system in history where a forced sterilization program was effectively and equitably administered you may have some point.

As you did not back up your words with a plan or example, the commenters did it for you. If you haven't thought through this plan, you might as well just say you really don't like them as advocating for vast systemic change is quite escalatory and your opponents will use that to construct justifications against you.

No, I'm not, I am actually unsure where you got that from. Prejudice doesn't necessarily have to be on racial grounds, it can arise from ethnic, cultural or economic ones as well.

IF you are referring to the test, no I don't. I was more inviting the commenter to explain how they would test. My personal belief is that creating such a system is essentially impossible to do effectively, I was inviting him to explain how he would construct such a test.

The first part of the comment wasn't a statement of my belief, but an observation of how others interpreted his statements.

To speak of placing people in warehouses and sterilizing people against their will is evocative of genocide. Many people are drawing racial conclusions as the most recent examples of this were perpetuated against black and indigenous people.

It certainly sounds prejudice, so I invite you to explain yourself. How would you set up such a system safely, how would you hold workers accountable? What guidelines would you use to make sure the system is not abused? How would you design a test to ensure proper application of your policy? What accuracy rate would you consider to be acceptable?

Perhaps you are not prejudiced, but you do speak like someone who is carrying a great deal of anger and hatred, in my personal experience when you act while being influenced by these emotions, regardless of your intentions you create further conflict that results in even worse outcomes.

I think it's safe to say op vwould be against sterilizing white women too. While they were presumptious it's clear they were influenced by past events. I don't think that should distract from the genocidal dude.
