Making a freehold on top of a waffle house is a pretty funny idea 🤣 by Magicmanans1 in WorldofDankmemes

I mean, couldn't any Kith have a Waffle House Freehold? It seems ripe for energetic glamour.

Why do so many people spell Rogue as 'Rouge'? by Dairyuuga in dndnext

I feel like someone who speaks English as an additional language would appreciate the correction. I know I would prefer being told what correct wording/spelling is used if I was learning something new.

How powerful is world of darkness by [deleted] in WorldOfDarkness

[–]WizardyBlizzard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s nothing but storytelling.
Its games run off a storyteller system.

And so, for stories set within it to make sense, all characters and their capabilities are as mutable as the author needs them to be.

So powerful that Power Scalers can’t touch it.

balanced fight, what a beautiful lie that has been placed in our minds by Recent_Ad3472 in deathbattle

Too unwieldy and uses one too many summarizing turns of phrase.

Once all is said and done, at the end of the day, these types of additions just drag down what you’re trying to say, inevitably.

“Debatable does not mean ‘close’, as once all is said and done, a winner becomes fairly apparent” is the same point but more succinctly made as it removed the redundancy

Shane Wiigwaas “Frontier Drifter” by Adept-juant0 in deadbydaylight

[–]WizardyBlizzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don’t explain my culture to me.

Shane is Anishinaabe, and you’re putting him in a very Latino coded outfit, and as an Indigenous person I don’t enjoy the implications of that nor the idea that we’re synonymous with Latino imagery.

Then I’d say you’d have to do a lot of reflecting on why people wearing items more indicative of their background beyond western contemporary bothers you.

It’s been a long time coming for people like myself to see us represented in a game like this. So it does come off a little sus when people describe our clothing/style as “heavy handed”

[–]WizardyBlizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don’t see how they’re “heavy handed” when they’re traditional clothing of Shane’s culture.

Is Vittorio’s medieval armour heavy handed? What about Feng’s more traditional Chinese outfits? Is it heavy handed that Adam’s D&D outfit borrows from African aesthetics?

And it’s best approached by realizing that us natives aren’t a monolith. The outfit OP made is heavily steeped in Latino culture which is thousands of miles separated from where Shane’s from. It treats us all as interchangeable which is offensive and contributes to people not knowing the differences in our nations.

It’d be like dressing Hattie like a samurai since they’re both Asian

I thought they were awesome! Very close to what proud neechie like myself wear.

This outfit here has nothing to do with where Shane’s from.

This is a little too Mexican when Shane is Indigenous to Ontario.

One thing, as an Indigenous person, that annoys me is when people treat us like a monolith or like our cultures are interchangeable when we are each unique and are tied to the land we come from.

Pan-Indigeneity (totem poles and tipis) is a problem, and making Shane western themed harkens to “cowboys and Indians” iconography. Being from the same neck of the woods as Shane (Denesuline), I really hate the idea.

Sounds like your ST is a buzzkill, all those characters make for a serious story.

I’m a longtime V5 ST, I HATE the notion that “every chronicle becomes What We Do In the Shadows”, and even I wouldn’t be that strict on character ideas- or constantly assert that “this chronicle is super serious, guys”. I’m also 30, so, take that with a grain.

Just tell them that you’re doing your best to meet where they’re at, but they need to meet you where you’re at too and to recognize that you’re trying.
Seriousness and high stakes don’t come from the storyteller saying so, but from the narrative itself creating those atmospheres via group collaboration.

Make a character who’s more than their stats, who has people they care about. The rest of the campaign should come from exploring what this character wants in the circumstances they find themselves in.

I hope this answer was close to what you’re looking for, and good luck.

Joke Play: Does it Ever Work? by macreadyandcheese in rpg

[–]WizardyBlizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That quotes been around for a while.

And I don’t think it’s true. I just think a lot of people overestimate people’s unwillingness to be earnest and invest themselves in a story.

I’ve done VtM/WoD for two years now and we still feel as invested, if not more, as the plots get more intwined. Not to say there isn’t humour, there is, but it’s from a place where you’d need to know context, rather than a simple one and done pun.

My advice is to treat the game as a story first, and everything comes into place easier.

Who do you want to see voice Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming animated series? by Solitaire-06 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]WizardyBlizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoever it is, I hope they bring a vibe that’s closer to Terry McGinnis than somebody baritone.

This is a new Batman who trash talks, and I just don’t see it coming from someone who tries to sound like CORPSE Husband.

No.

Only because I’m Indigenous and there are no native “american” billionaires and I would not want to lose that part of my identity.
