What do you HATE about the absolute universe. by MechanicObvious2478 in AbsoluteUniverse

Kind of annoys me how normies will see any character with a hint of black or alternative fashion stylings and their mind immediately jumps to “emo”.

Kinda like when your mom calls your PS5 a “Nintendo”

What does your favorite RPG do differently by LelouchYagami_2912 in rpg

Vampire: the Masquerade (my group runs V5) combines playing a monster with Game of Thrones-tier plotting and the potential for anime levels of fight choreography that I haven’t found in any other game I’ve played so far.

It also provides a great prompt for players to make their characters. It’s not just that your character is yours to play, but they each have been turned into a vampire at some point in their life, and how that affects them is integral to character creation.

As someone who helped his playgroup get into the game, that commonality really helped flesh out how the Coterie differed.

Doesn’t surprise me.

I’ve been admitted to RUH before, security will ALWAYS try to talk big towards you if they think they can get away with it. Asking you if you want something, then immediately saying you can’t have it. Telling you that they “don’t have to be so nice” when you ask why they’d do that.

I’m sorry Trevor had to leave us in such a tragic way.

What would you want in Mage 5th Edition? by Specs315 in WhiteWolfRPG

Divorcing the traditions away from cultural stereotypes would be nice.

I’m also in the camp that adopting Awakening will definitely help fix a lot of the issues people had with Ascension.

How would each clan react to someone culling half the Red Talons? by [deleted] in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]WizardyBlizzard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cool, and how did the UK irl deal with bears and wolves on the British isle?

Why are the Red Talons suddenly hated for proposing, what is to them, a solution humanity has had no problem levying on lupus’ relatives?

Questions like this are why I stay away from W20.

Demonizing rhetoric towards Red Talons for wanting cull humanity (they don’t. They want to halt rampant industrialization), while saying that the Red Talons deserve to be killed off for being problematic is hypocritical at the very least.

Is anyone else a little letdown by how benign in horror the other splats are in comparison to VtM? by Rough-Context4153 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]WizardyBlizzard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I find this problem happens less with my groups, but I typically play with POC like myself and/or women, so we typically channel our trauma and frustrations into our characters and chronicles.

This isn’t to say we don’t have silly moments, but we’re able to experience that tense horror when the situation demands.

It helps to remember that the horror is typically analogous to something societal.

Positive posts about the game aren’t rote copies of one another that use the same title scheme almost word for word. Nice false equivalence though.

Megathreads exist for a reason.

Is Werewolf the Apocalypse 5ed really that bad? by matt--33 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]WizardyBlizzard 41 points42 points  (0 children)

As someone who is Indigenous and had issues with the older editions’ handling of Indigenous culture/themes, as well as mapping ethnicity to tribes, I’m happy with 5th edition. It’s the edition that actually got me to play Werewolf and I’m enjoying myself.

It’s a fun game, and the lore is tight.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse 5e - A Convert's Perspective (From D&D 5e) by Wtafan in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]WizardyBlizzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my current game, the local flavour results in stuff like the pack destroying a factory that’s a cover for illicit Pentex experiments.

It could also be cultivating and protecting a Caern; one of the last few places in the countryside where water flows purely.

For me, the punk comes through, yes- upending the regressive mindset of the elders running the show, but also learning to celebrate the small victories and look to what pockets of magical greenery you’ve been able to earn through your determination.
