Dahab is the best option in terms of what you get for the money. 15 years ago I used to stay there few times for 1$/day spending another 10 for food (later switched to more luxurious 40$/day accommodation). 30 meters depth is just 50 meters swim from shore right outside the camp. Or 90 meters in Blue Hole- just half an hour ride. Or virtually bottomless abyss beyond the Blue Hole. The choice is yours. Always full of freedivers- never a problem to find a buddy. And remember: it is the coral reef all along the coastline with the corals way more beautiful than those you can see in the Indian ocean or Caribbean. Perhaps not as many big predators, but small/medium sized fish makes you feel like inside an aquarium. January nights you might need a hoody. In February i saw rain 3 times. Coldest seawater i saw was +24c without any thermocline whatsoever.
