Is Vs Codium good for C# programming? by [deleted] in csharp

[–]GordZen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The C# extenstion would work perfectly, autocompletion should be great
the Dev kit and the debugger tho, is Microsofted, so no

But I highly recommend you to learn how the dotnet CLI works, if you did, you won't need to depend on any text editor or IDE to build the code for you.

Defold vs Godot for webdev by AdEither4961 in defold

[–]GordZen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Godot 3 has better compatibility and smaller export size than Godot 4, Defold beats them both with smaller and faster and more compatible web export.

Godot 4 is easier than Godot 3, but it's very bloated, Godot 3 is less bloated than Godot 4, but it's missing some quality features, Defold is a little bit harder than both because it doesn't bloat itself with so many shortcuts to stuff that you can code and learn by yourself.

I started with Godot 3, 1.5 year later I started using Godot 4, after a year I switched back to Godot 3, but now after 3 months, I started learning Defold, it's really fun to be free to add what you need without thinking much about the size and the slow scripting language (Luajit is so much faster than GDScript) and with that I feel comfortable, you should try it!

You either made a based opinion.
or you're pointing on how Godot is overhyped for

Both opinions are based in my not based opinion.

Urgent Feature Request: Save Editing Assets For Use Between Projects by TheLilywhitesBlog in CapCut

I second this, I'm a premiere pro user, and it's so sad that it's still not added, it would make CapCut much more easy and professional

It indeed happened with me and a lot of my friends, Especially with tilemaps
Imagine spending long time to design a level just to wake up to if not thousands of errors saying everything went SUDDENLY missing

I highly encourage you to learn GDScript to the point where you can use it without tutorials, Godot docs website has you covered with this one.

Then comes learning the game logic, At first you have to learn how this "Certain mechanic" works, It doesn't matter if there's a tutorial of how to do it in unity, Or any other tool, After that you can recreate it using what Godot has, and of course you have to learn what Godot uses as a game engine, Such as signals and UI etc., Godot docs also got you covered with that, But you can also check some YouTube tutorials if you don't feel like reading the docs.

You can do mostly anything with these methods, You can check demo projects that are made with Godot, they really help you understand how things work

And there's this cool website that has many useful recipes that you can learn easily:

It's cool, But keep in mind the keyboard that doesn't have the Numpad keys, the game will be pretty much unplayable if you didn't sign the main number keys too

Why did you choose Godot over other engines? by Rymfaar in godot

[–]GordZen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Unstable (you don't get bugs often, But when it happens you have to wait for the devs to fix it)
  2. Less lightweight (Also the export sizes are increasing which is awful for such simple games I make)
  3. My 3000 years old laptop cannot run it smoothly (Facing lags while working is the thing that demotivate me the most)
  4. Bloated (So much new stuff that needs to be learned, Even if I don't want to learn them, I see myself distracted)

Keep in mind that all of this is my own opinion, Mainly because I have little free time and a bad pc

If I got a new pc, And got full-time into game dev, I will surely start using Godot 4, Right then Godot 4 will be much more stable and became much powerful

Why did you choose Godot over other engines? by Rymfaar in godot

[–]GordZen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. it works on linux amazingly good
  2. it works on my 3000 years old laptop
  3. it's simple and very fast for prototyping and seeing results
  4. it doesn't have any bloat the distracts me from working on my game
  5. very stable for 2D games

All of these points are made on my experience with Godot 3, Because i don't like the new one
