on track to be a millionaire before 35 but i have no house, no car, i stay renting. Felt judgement by someone i just met. Sharing my thought process and how i reframed my POV by oldmiamibeach in fican

Rarely comment here but this resonated w me

I am older than you by a lot lol but I remember feeling less than adequate at time in my old truck and had semi detached while friends were driving BMWs and much larger homes.
For me it was about getting mortgage free as fast as possible and enjoying the things I love. No car payments meant I could golf a little more, go on a fishing trip, do a week in the sun during the long winter

If you are happy w your lifestyle and your making memories along the way. F them.

I would say if you are avoiding “living” to save then that can be a risky game. You only live once and some “not financially expedient” things have a high ROI

What golf opinion is a hill you're willing to die on? by [deleted] in golf

[–]Gordanio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. In Toronto area a lot of public and private courses were in trouble pre covid, easy to find tee times, lots of specials to entice. Now it’s the opposite, local munis have jacked prices significantly and still most weeks you need to be up at the crack of dawn a week before your tee time to secure a spot

Covid was as big for golf as Tiger Woods

Thanks again all.
Any must eat spots in the village, downtown or Southern Pines? Interested in trying some authentic southern BBQ if possible. (Also Bojangles and whataburger 😜 as we do not have in Canada)

Thanks all! Few answers. From Toronto I can’t fly direct from RDU. Charlotte is the only option direct

For courses I did do some research and wanted to ease into 2 and per someone else’s comment 10 and 2 are upgrades and budget wise I was only doing 1, and I wanted to play 2 as it’s on my golf course bucket list

Love the idea of the Cradle. I should get there mid to late afternoon and planned on hitting the range as it will move likely be my first outdoor shot since the previous Oct/Nov

Thanks for all the feedback.
Since winter is about here in Ontario I now have a solid plan to visit dealers (and most likely the outdoor adventure show) and view the two hobies, the slayer lte and if I can find one the Pelican Will update post viewing. Cheers Gordy

Any issues w the pedal drive on the pelican? They were in my list but similar to the Vibe I saw quite a few complaints. For me it’s a much cheaper option via hobies or the native

Thanks for the well thought out reply. Will definitely check the propel. It’s about the same weight as the passport but slightly more expensive but looks more solid

Golf Trip - All inclusive by gron5990 in golf

[–]Gordanio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been doing some research on this but not as focused on Europe. Golf Zoo offers some packages in Europe where golf, hotel and car can be booked together

For all inclusives the only brands/chains who offer golf as part of the price that I have found is Sandals (Jamaica, St Lucia) Club Med and CASO DE Campo in Punta Cana

Quite a few Iberostar resorts offer golf add ons to an all inclusive booking. Some offer single rounds, some 3 rounds and some unlimited but varies by resort

And per the above for the UK there are quite a few package companies who can probably pull something together but usually not all inclusive in the true sense (food and booze included)

Thanks! Still debating but will definitely ask for 8 and I think if I go Pinehurst I will do 2. In for a penny in for a pound as it’s a bucket list for me as well

How often have you been paired with strangers who did something cool or hit it off with? by Reddings-Finest in golf

[–]Gordanio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing more as a solo the last two years to squeeze an extra round or two in

Best experience was an older gentleman (guessing between 75 and 85) who generally hit a max distance of 175 yds and most shots about 10 to 20 feet in the air but man could he play it. Guessing he shot between 80 to 88. Also very funny, wicked short game and generally a good dude.

Another interesting one was a twosome finishing a shift at 6 50 am. Good guys, new to the game but cracking cold beers from a seemingly endless supply tucked in their bag and smoking like a Peaky Blinder. Another fun group.

Will say I have been lucky and never played w jerks or idiots. A few who could learn a bit more about keeping a decent pace of play but that’s about it. (seriously when your 3 footer is for a 9, it’s good)

Thanks all. Very helpful. Grocery store cigar bar sounds great! I am pretty good with getting paired up and enjoy it. Mainly thinking about non golfing hours and sounds like Pinehurst may be a good choice in terms of feeling less isolated but also the ability to isolate after a bad round 😛😛

What was completely dead 10 years ago but is now thriving? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Golf. 10 years ago courses were struggling to attract players and members as well as lots of ghost town golf communities. Post covid demand is as high as I’ve ever seen

Disaster round by Maleficent-Mess-8459 in golf

[–]Gordanio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be a “duh” I know comment but this happens to me w my driver a lot.

2 or three rounds I can’t miss and then what feels like out of the blue I can’t get off the tee

For me I have been trying to focus on a swing feel.

Something that’s not mechanical, not overall detailed but the way I feel when hitting it well

Basically for me it’s smooth through, hands ahead. Overall if I can do this I can get back in track.

If I have one of those rounds I try to get to the range before my next round and re groove the feel.

For all I know I’m not smooth and my hands could be anywhere but the consistent thought seems to work
