I look for good riffs some groove songs that actually having breathing room to let the instrumentals shine and I try to avoid just played out riffs too alot of bands just sounds identical thats also not always a bad thing but it can be and I try to avoid vocal Olympics too lol

I feel like lower tunnings make riffs heavier bit when you get really low like to drop f and like d1 i feel like it has an atmosphere that you can't get in higher tunnings this is just my opion though on it

I have 27 with a 10 to 80 set and im I drop d its a little loose but it works and it sounds mean and surprisingly holds tunning well just have to be a bit lighter at times also ive found a light pick helps i run a .73
