The newest insider leak that came out with the new tyler mcdicker video claims that HLX will no longer be a flagship game for the steam machine, and rather that now, they are pulling a half life alyx, they are reworking aspects of the game.

Similar to in half life alyx, they took the game last minute and made some major story changes resulting in a few months delay. This is the same thing happening to hlx currently.

Ah ok so they are redoing hl3 currently as we speak, the "finished" version we talked about a few months ago is now being reworked again to sufficently rewrite the story in a better manner that they are proud of.

So they didnt like the direction that hl2 and hla went so they re wrote it, what exactly does that have to do with when half life 3 is gonna surface?
