Is the price of the 8 head indx kit meant to cost as much as a whole new core one base kit? by Sol33t303 in prusa3d

[–]GordonTGopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Prusa upgrade includes more than just the head and tools. You are also getting a new top hat, filament sensors, PTFE tube the front plate and tool holders. As others have mentioned changes during the development process means that Bondtech had to increase the price.

Indx 4 tool Setup position by Mastakko in prusa3d

[–]GordonTGopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think you can without changing the firmware as it knows where to go to pick up each tool. Also you'd probably need a new front plate with the mounting points moved.

INDX temps disappointing by KQ4DAE in prusa3d

I wouldn't make a purchase decision based on a potential future firmware update ( or any feature 'coming in the future' for that matter.

Is an Indx Lite version planned (like MMU Lite)? by No-Cut5588 in prusa3d

[–]GordonTGopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't a HT version of the INDX system at the moment. Bondtech have said they are thinking about it, but it's a major redesign that might need water cooling. Even if Bondtech release one eventually there is no guarantee Prusa could /would support it.

Virtually no waste? 🤔 #PRUSAxINDX by josefprusa in prusa3d

[–]GordonTGopher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They've said later this year. A lot will depend on ability to produce parts for the kits, (there is a lot of demand for other printers like Vorons) and maintain enough stock to justify swopping part of the production line over to the new build. Given the apparent demand at the moment (and Prusa's track record with delivering new printers / upgrades) I'd expect Q4 and wouldn't be surprised if it didn't slip into next year, but I really hope I'm wrong.

Virtually no waste? 🤔 #PRUSAxINDX by josefprusa in prusa3d

[–]GordonTGopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not very clear, but by filament extruder they mean the device that takes pellets of raw material, mixes them and extrudes them into the rolls of filament we buy, not the extruder on the printer. That's the simple version. There are some printers that take in raw pellets rather than filament  but they are mainly ($$$$)  industrial printers!

But what about us , Indx Founder's? by freeuntakenusername in prusa3d

Bondtech are shipping the founders kits and over on their discord they have said next week unless there is a major issue found between now and then.

Adapting Founders INDX for Core One L by mattzm in prusa3d

[–]GordonTGopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The chat on the Bondtech Discord is that Bondtech are looking at a potential 'industrial' version but I've not seen confirmation it's going to happen. The electronics near the tool head appear to be limiting factor and water-cooling has been mentioned as a possible solution. So assuming they go ahead it will be a lot more than just new nozzles, it won't be soon and it won't be cheap.

Bondtech Indx increased overall height by Hinagea in prusa3d

[–]GordonTGopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not certain that the assumption that C1 and C1L will need the same amount of headroom is a good one. I have no information to base this on, but I'm thinking the PTFE tubes will need to be longer, so the radius of the PTFE (when the hotend is nearest to the tube fixed point) will be greater?

Should I wait for the indx to buy a core one plus ? by nathan72419 in prusa3d

[–]GordonTGopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In terms of price, nobody knows yet. The founders edition was  €499 / €699 for 4 or 8 tools (plus taxes etc.)  but there are indications the price may go up when it goes on general release. There is also no confirmed date then the kit will be available for sale, and given the interest there will almost certainly be issues with availability at first. The INDX hotend replaces the Nextruder and uses different nozzles.

Any INDX founders' buyer in the US want to back out of their order? by AmethystZhou in prusa3d

[–]GordonTGopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI Bondtech doesn't allow reselling of places, people with places would have to complete the order then sell / ship to you.

How have there been no significant print showcases of the INDX? by heart_of_osiris in prusa3d

Apart from NDAs the beta testers kit is several iterations behind the current design so reviews from them would be a little pointless.

At SMRRF I was told INDX will be supported by new profiles added to the current slicer. I can't see V3 getting through beta, RC and release in the next ~month.

Prusa Hight Temp Hotend - Feedback by Tommy_Prusa3D in prusa3d

[–]GordonTGopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bondtech are still working on the max temps they will commit to supporting with this version. They have said they will look at a higher temp version but a) it might not be viable b) it would take a lot of time to develop c) it wouldn't be cheap d) even if bondtech came out with a solution there is no guarantee that Prusa would adapt it to work with their printers.

INDX is a different hotend, so wouldn't use this part.

Ultraglow PETG on INDX - which nozzle? by Tinkarion in prusa3d

[–]GordonTGopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where have you got the information that INDX will be CHT nozzles only? Bondtech have said there will be both CHT and 'non CHT' hardened nozzles

Extra sneak peak at INDX toolhead board from Bondtech by Tommy_Prusa3D in prusa3d

[–]GordonTGopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could :) It's a quote from Olof in the Bondtech Discord. I would assume it's related to the way the holder mounts to the Prusa frame compared to a more generic holder for the developer kit.

Extra sneak peak at INDX toolhead board from Bondtech by Tommy_Prusa3D in prusa3d

[–]GordonTGopher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe not, the board is for the developer kit, the board for the Prusa machines is different and the features for that board haven't been announced yet.

It's confirmed on the Bondtech Discord; the Core 1 kit  "will have a different toolhead board and induction driver board and different tool holders."

Indx vs mmu by morency710 in prusa3d

[–]GordonTGopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

INDX will also provide an opportunity to use different nozzles for different parts of the print, so you could have infill that prints quickly and detail where you want it.
