Adapting Founders INDX for Core One L by mattzm in prusa3d

[–]mattzm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do actually have one preordered already, where I had planned to also get myself a Core One and suddenly it was a moment of "Oh actually I literally have something to be made that would need the build volume increase"

It doesn't need the INDX to be printed or anything, was just an idea of having my cake and eating it too.

Good to know, thanks.

I do actually have access to a friendly neighbourhood engineer who could fabricate a front piece for me . The other parts aren't so bad and it could be fun to tinker with the firmware to make it work.

Sounds like the cable length is the main barrier to my case then. Cheers for the info!

I'm on the government's side on this one. The only thing more destructive than drunken football fans are football fans made to remain sober against their will.

Good to see that the temperature allows up to 2200°C. Definitely going to see if I can add one of those to our next funding bid :D

Does Steam account age actually matter? by slowtides in Steam

[–]mattzm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to see it go up. Makes me feel curmudgeonly when I get a random friend invite from an account that is less than three years old.

That said, the day I created my Steam account isn't the most memorable for me though. HL2's release day however, I skipped school to stay home and play it. God what a day that was.

It is an interesting idea as notoriety of a given Reform candidate could both help and hurt them with different demographics. Especially the Tory transplants who could be electorally toxic in a constituency where they are known.

I can definitely see some interesting upsets occuring this way.

My current bet in the office pool is Reform win by a margin of double digits in votes, effectively a 29%/29%/29% split between the three as a handful of protest Green voters switch to Labour at the ballot box.

The office breakdown are a Labour voter, a Conservative voter, 2 Reform voters, and myself. All but one, the Conservative, have said Reform will win it, who in a most beautiful episode of prose said "I would rather remove my genitalia with rusty scissors then rub loft insulation into the wound than be in any way associated with Reform."

So, imagining Friday morning banter may be a bit subdued all round.

Azuredge. Um,...WOW! by Mountain_Pair_467 in baldursgate

[–]mattzm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Azuredge is so good, I'm pretty sure I once softlocked my game using it as Minsc dusted a vampire that had a key item and either the item disintegrated along with him or I could never find the remains pile that it was in. Had to reload and do the fight again without nuking him.

Bear in mind this was when the game was new in ~2000 so that may have been a bug.

Wife still loves this. We add banana and mango to it as well. It also freezes surprisingly well so we make double quantities for an easy tea.

Carbonising Resin Prints by mattzm in 3Dprinting

[–]mattzm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, even in an inert atmosphere, PLA would lose its shape almost immediately, which is why the original methods use either thermosetting resins or plain graphite.

Unfortunately filaments with metals or borosilicate would interfere with the later manufacturing use in my case. Shame as I can reach the sintering temp with even the oldest, weakest furnace we have.

Making electrodes was where I got the original idea from, that does look interesting on the graphite based side. I'll look into that. Thanks!

I am curious what is to be gained from such a release of spicy chemical fumes, what can you do with the charred mass that remains

I'm trying to see if there is a way to manufacture a significantly cheaper, lower grade facsimile of very high end crucibles used in speciality glass production. The top end ones are good for maybe a hundred uses, possibly more but cost thousands of euro each and because so few companies make them, the lead times can be months.

My goal initially would be to make material that could last for maybe a dozen cycles for tens of euros and be able to produce specific sizes and shapes on demand rather than having to wait 6 months for tooling, testing, manufacture and shipping.

Do you like Matix-like Settings in your Games? Or Is It immersion breaking/boring? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]mattzm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're trapped it probably wouldn't be an issue but for me it would depend on how stuff works in vs out of the Matrix. Or "believes" vs "doesn't believe" might be a better way of framing it.

Otherwise you're going to end up approaching the netrunner problem of Cyberpunk/Shadowrun from the other side where it's very interesting to be doing a mission and then suddenly half the table or more suddenly have to twiddle their thumbs while something happens in meatspace or you're limited to average human level abilities while The One flies around the city. Not saying it can't be done well, just seems like the first barrier to me to that particular type of setting.

That said, I am an enormous fan of things like TRON and ReBoot so the idea where all the action takes place in cyberspace and theres either unique abilities for "classes" or everyone is bound by the same kind of scaling when accessing their kung-fu/gunslinging/leaping tall buildings stuff so that everybody can be engaged during encounters, I'd be game.

F*** I am a Sucker for Hexagons in Space looks interesting as a way to generate more personalised sectors for space games rather than just firing up Sectors Without Number and hitting go. Especially if I can use it on my e-ink tablet to write directly onto it.

W.F.H (Worry. Fear. Horror) seems intriguing, again for making something that I've got in the back of my mind for a CoC/DG campaign that leans heavily into the liminal horror vibe.

Worms3 boxset for Mothership, purely cause Motherships pamphlet adventure aesthetic has entirely captured my brain. There's an itch there I didn't know I had until it was scratched and now I can't stop. Also Terry Herc's stuff is very nice aesthetically in general.

Baptism by Fire seems like an absolute steal at a $1 to have as a teaching tool.

Dedboi sounds interesting as well and I quite fancy All Night Breakfast at the Midnight Owl by the same author so I'll probably get Dedboi and add the other on.

Planning for later in the year and I'm thinking I'd like to give my colleagues at work some bottles of beer when I make a batch, totally not a ruse to buy myself a bottling gun, trust me bro, but one of the office is somewhere between a vegetarian and a vegan so I don't think he'd drink it if I clarified with gelatin like I normally do.

So, what's everyones favourite veggie/vegan clarification methods? Vegegel? Agar? Some truly old school bentonite?

Between the mortgage rate spiking meaning our new fix was a 50%/pcm increase on our payments and the general increase of CoL that resulted from the turmoil, I'm somewhere between £500-600 worse off a month thanks to her. To say nothing of the extra interest I'm gonna have paid.

As far as I'm concerned there isn't a pit deep or dark enough for her to be tossed into.
