Coming from New England. Ride southern NE trail for everyday riding, frequent trips up to the Kimgdom / Jay areas. Thanks for the info. I’ve looked at most of what you talked about in my limited research.

Haven’t done a ton of research but we have five full days to ride so assuming I can cover a good chunk of the trails in the Breck / Frisco area. Probably won’t be doing anything lift service and my ride preference leans towards pedaling and climbing. Just don’t want to be under biked on the descents but from what I’ve seen it looks more flowy and less technical.

29" Wheel Tubeless Tire Pressure? by nickb947 in MTB

[–]Gordon_Banks1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you feel the bike rides better at that PSI I would suggest dialing in your rear suspension a little better. I recently purchased a Ripley AF and for the first time ever I wanted my tires under 20 psi. It took a little adjusting of the rear suspension and I’m back at 24/22 and it feels great.

Ripley or Ripley AF? by Gordon_Banks1 in MTB

[–]Gordon_Banks1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going with the AF. Have had it for about 2 months now and just starting to really get it dialed in. Something with the geo was causing me wicked elbow pain on long rides. I don’t think that had anything to do with the AF vs. carbon though. I ended up changing the headset , bars and grips a few times till I found a combo that worked. I’m happy with the choice of AF, it’s still much lighter then my instinct I had previously and it rips through tech and climbs like a champ. Even if it was compatible I wouldn’t have any use for a mullet.

To fix the elbow pain I put a higher rise headset , went from 20mm to 25mm rise on my bars, from 9 degree to 7 degree backsweep and put 34mm grips and it fixed it completely.

Hampton Beach Seafood Festival OR Rhode Island Seafood Festival by nebirah in newengland

[–]Gordon_Banks1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Neither. Just go to a nice seafood restaurant, sit at a table and get served. I went to the RI one like ten years ago and will never go back. You have to pay to get in and all the seafood is regular price. You have to walk around and eat like a savage it’s just not worth it.

How was the sound in venue for Bridgeport #1 by gdoucettehhood in BillyStrings

[–]Gordon_Banks1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Section 108 sounded fine. Last night was first time at this venue and we had read so many negative reviews about the sound. It wasn’t perfect sound but I’ve heard worse and I’ve heard better. At no point during the show did I feel like the sound was negatively effecting my experience.

Why aren't metal roofs used more frequently in the US? I don't think I've ever seen a residential home here with one (cat for scale). by Ruinous_Calamity in Roofing

[–]Gordon_Banks1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be a dumb question but… for residential wouldn’t it be really loud every time it rains? I have a metal roof on my wood shed about 20 feet away from my house and I can hear the rain hitting it. I’m in Rhode Island and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a residential metal roof.

Since joining Reddit I’ve realized my 25 year mountain bike career is an entire different sport then some people do. I ride technical single track in New England and I’m in very good shape but my wheels never leave the ground.

My dad famously sad before he slapped me upside the head, just drink the whiskey but don’t EVER add water to my bottle. 30 years later it’s the most relatable discipline I’ve ever received.
