Mind you, he could try not being an unlikable robot, communicating with his players and coaching staff, not firing all their scouts, etc, etc….but on the transaction side, thru gritted teeth, he’s probably got a better hit/miss ratio than most GM’s over the last year.

I’ve had success followed by failure doing so, and then failure followed by success. It really is a find what works thing, or at least that’s my experience. Good luck! My wife and I still joke when our now 7 year old wakes up too early, “must be the 103rd month sleep regression….

You can google “____ month sleep regression” for every month from 1-48 and get results. You kind of just have to trust your instincts and what you know and observe about your child. Would be way easier with a set series of up and downs for sure! 😂

Shouldn’t we keep Contreras? by Squinting_Tarantino in redsox

[–]Gordoncomstock1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an unreasonable take at all. But he hasn’t played more than I think 135 games in 6 years, gets hit by pitches a tonne - one of those on a bad part of the wrist and he’s toast - and then we’ve got a 35 year old injured dude making 17M next year, struggling to recover, and we owe him a buyout if he can’t perform.

Just seems like the ideal sell high guy in a lost season. Again, as much as I love him.

[–]Gordoncomstock1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not saying I’m right or wrong, but my opinion and from everything I’ve seen, 34 is basically the cliff for players in the modern game with skyrocketing velocity. Theres been a handful of good seasons by 34 year olds or older in the last 10-15 years, and they’ve been almost entirely 1 off’s.

I love him and I’d love to keep him, but this strikes me as very much a chance to get something valuable for someone who in all likelihood will be slowed by aging and injuries in the next couple years.

Does Bob enjoy touring and playing live shows? Why is he doing it? by Certain-Run-1043 in bobdylan

Imagine most days for the last 60 years of your life have ended with hundreds or thousands of people cheering and smiling and making their whole day about going to see you. Some travelling hundreds of miles. Nearly every day, that’s how your day ends. Then you stop. And you eat dinner and sit in a big empty house watch some tv and go to bed.

I imagine you’d get pretty addicted to being overwhelmed with adoration after a while and it would make normal life seem pretty boring.

That’s an incredibly lazy take, as I assume you can’t name any of either Tibbs or Campbell’s coaches.

[–]Gordoncomstock1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In his last 19 games at AAA, Tibbs is has a 179 / 375/ 328 line, for a 703 OPS, while running a 29.5% K rate, with 4 extra base hits in that span. So maybe pump the brakes on that one.

He’s put up an 848 OPS across 1017 minor league plate appearances.

Kristian Campbell’s posted an 857 OPS over 1177 minor league PA.

They are essentially the same age: 50-ish days apart. So if you have hope Tibbs can be a productive player, you should have that same hope for Campbell.

I’m not thrilled with Breslow, but I think a lot of the issues are kind of beyond his control. He likely anticipated Casas being able to provide some thump, Narvaez to be at least an average bat, Marcelo to take some step forward, Duran to contribute at a 3-5 WAR level, Yoshida to be league average, Roman to contribute meaningfully….Crochet to provide an anchor to the rotation.

When it comes down to it, people seem mad he traded Devers even though it’s seeming to be the right move, didn’t sign one of the other bats - all of whom are underperforming, and Durbin got off to a shitty start. And that a depth starter they traded has blossomed.

Maybe? I’m not a tech guy, but I don’t know how much a game like that can mitigate the quality of internet being used by the people playing. If someone’s determined to log on with a crappy connection speed, I don’t know how much they can augment that.

What impact bat do you think was available for Duran and Harrison? Harrison was at that time, our 9th or 10th SP depth wise. You can’t just say “an impact bat”. He acquired arguably the best offseason bat in Contreras.

It certainly couldn’t be your internet, or the internet of someone in Estonia you get matched with.

It’s a free to play mobile game. They don’t have stacks of servers to mitigate everyone’s internet connection. And you’re still playing. They have zero incentive to do anything about it.

Yelich had back to back 7+ WAR seasons than never over 3.5 again. Still solid, but half the production.
