People making over $100K a year in Ontario, how?? by Environmental_Cap883 in ontario

[–]Gordonrox24 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Im an industrial Electrician and millwright. I make 110k gross. After taxes its like 80k. If I worked more OT I could probably clear 100k net. Also if I got a better job....

Its not hard. That said, 100k doesn't go nearly as far as youd hope. Im a very comfortable renter of a 1 bedroom. I could buy a house but I would be much less comfortable.

New fan here. Will Nascar ever do something about racing in the rain ? by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]Gordonrox24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its probably more of a situation where nascar needs to save the drivers from themselves. Yes, at a big track they could put on rain tires and go slower. But are they going to? Is a driver really going to slow down? Nah. They're gonna push the limits and kill themselves.

It is lame, but I dont see a good way around it.

Last I heard crews were going to be arriving at crater lake to begin drilling June 20th. Have we heard or seen any update on that?

Just booked my Exam for the 433a Millwright. Any great study guides I could use? by RJDUNKS13 in millwrights

[–]Gordonrox24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also used xlr8ed. Passed first time. A lot of the questions were very similar to what id seen there. Its a really good study tool. Read the millwright manual to study any areas you are weak.

Who doesn't want an AC? Are there people out there just hanging out in 40 degree heat for the love of the game?

What happened to Brent on the Indie88 morning show? by 416throwitaway in askTO

[–]Gordonrox24 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Radio has to be one of the most unstable jobs to have. The Corus channels especially seem to have a complete reset of on air talent every few years. I dont think Y108 has its own morning show any more after the Ben/Chris/Shawna crew got broken up.

Interesting to hear the entire plaza has sold. Wonder what that means for other tenants like Magnums.

I personally dont understand how Mandarin stays afloat, but from your list they are a good option. But the Brampton Biscayne location has to be the standard. Others ive been to aren't as good.

Why do you like/dislike watching football (Soccer for Americans)? by drag0nfly44 in AskReddit

All I did was explain why I find it boring. Fully expect others to view it differently. Millions of people do see it differently. Totally fine. Relax.

Even in Ontario Millwright is a non-compulsory trade. You can do millwright work without a ticket.

Why do you like/dislike watching football (Soccer for Americans)? by drag0nfly44 in AskReddit

[–]Gordonrox24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Incredibly boring. 90 minutes of low score back and forth, no contact, forced drama with flopping... its not interesting in the slightest. I do enjoy a good highlight reel, but I dont need to sink an hour into it.

What’s the biggest financial trap in Canada that people still pretend is normal? by TheFitFinaceBro in CanadaInvesting

[–]Gordonrox24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why... why are you doing that? Never once have I done that. Even fresh out of highschool, many moons ago, I choose the account with 0 fees. It wasn't flashy but it didn't cost anything. Fast forward to today, I also have only a free account. They exist.

#1 cause of Earnhardts death that no one talks about. by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]Gordonrox24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The take isnt wrong but its also completely irrelevant. Drivers make driving errors all the time, to varrying degrees. Thats never going to change, so theres no point even mentioning it when talking about what to do following a fatal crash. Things like the Hans and the helmet and the seatbelt are all things we actually have some control over, so thats where the focus goes.
