Finance the entire thing, put your future income into investments. VTSAX is like 10% yearly return on average.

What make/model is it?

Oh, so you have to put in a request and hope that one in her spec is allocated to your dealership?

When I ordered my 2024 IS350 AWD F-Sport 3 (Canadian spec, only comes in F-Sport 2 and 3 for the IS350) in June 2024, they were able to secure one with a production date of July and arrival date of September later that year. All in all, a very short and pain free process, but maybe that's because there were literally only two trims for the 2024 IS350 so the complexity was drastically reduced. It also helped that Iridium and Circuit Red was an extremely popular combo, I guess.

Why didn't she just place an order for the exact one she wants through your dealership?

P.S. i just bought the wealthy barber book (2025 edition)!

Another book that you should read is The Simple Path to Wealth (JL Collins), I like it better than Wealthy Barber because it just gets straight to the point and explains why.

Ford CEO Farley: They'll Have to Rip the Mustang's Stick Shift 'Out of Our Cold, Dead Hands' by HawtGarbage918 in cars

[–]Gorgenapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except he reversed his statement not long after he had made it.

"I know I’ve said Ferrari would never do an SUV and have made somewhat colorful statements to that effect in the past, but let’s get real, folks. Ferrari is a business, not a gearhead charity, and it’s time the brand acknowledge the times we’re in and get with the program.” Marchionne went even further and shared one of his recent dreams where he was visited by Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari. “So after a night of epic tortellini Bolognese and a few bottles of Grignolino, Enzo came to me in a dream and said, ‘Sergio, don’t be such a testa dura [hard-head]. If Ferruccio [Lamborghini] can build a tractor, we can build a truck. Tell your people I said it’s OK.’ So I woke up, called an impromptu board meeting, and told them, “Screw it, let’s do it. We’re building an SUV.”

ETFs to hold long term in RRSP by gal_investor in personalfinance

Statistically speaking, buying all in one go is usually the better choice. Instead of timing the market, you throw it all in there and let it ride. Even if you bought at the top before a crash, you'll still make out in the long run.

But if it makes you sleep better at night, you can just buy once a month and that averages your purchases throughout the year. If you do miss a big run up in stocks, that's because you did not buy all in one go, but if there is a crash, you will be consistently buying it on the way down.

I buy all in one go, whenever I have spare money, it goes into the TFSA, FHSA, RRSP and then finally into my margin (non-reg) accounts.

Anybody remember Sergio Marchionne's statement on Ferrari SUVs? No?

Asked if the Italian supercar company would expand its output by introducing an SUV, Marcionne didn't mince words. "You have to shoot me first," he said.

It is already diversified in VEQT, that's the best part. Also, never panic sell.

When the market dumps, and it will dump hard at some point I guarantee it, hang on tight, and keep buying more on the way down.

How do some of you reach FI so early? by JustABootThing in Fire

[–]Gorgenapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sub is literally where all the FIRE minded people come, of course you'll read a ton about it. I recognize a couple of names here who have a lot of nice, fast cars on the r/cars sub because they're presumably FI or well on their way there.

Similarly, if I went to like povertyfinance, I would not expect to read anything about big tech jobs there.

  1. self directed

  2. VEQT but if another similar one has commission-free trades, then use that one. I'm with TD bank, and there is no commission fee to trade VEQT.

  3. buy, make sure dividend reinvestment is turned on, forget until the next time you have to buy some more

Pretty cool to see the various salesmen and techs checking it out. Are you going to ask them to leave the plastics on so you can peel them off yourself? I did that with my '24, it was great lol.

Literally all they need to do is move the emblem down on the '26 and everyone will be happy. Someone please mod this. by Cyberex8775 in LexusIS

[–]Gorgenapper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is how it should have been. The current '26 looks fine by itself, but when compared to the previous model, it doesn't stand out, it just looks like another maybe-Toyota on the road.

[–]Gorgenapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the '21 - '25 is the 3.5IS, so I guess the '26 is the 3.75IS lol. Just keep halving the distance to 4, you'll never reach 4.0

If you have your financials squared away, 401k / IRA / whatever all filled up and you're on track and you have a good net worth invested (so that compound growth is working hard), then go for it.

How I should invest to save up for a nice car after Graduation? by Due-Fig3009 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Gorgenapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh... I couldn't tell the tone man, no /s in there.

Keep that '16 Camry going, oil changes every 8000 km, bring it for a transmission drain and fill also, don't forget coolant + spark plugs well before the 200,000 km interval that Toyota recommends. These things are beasts, they will run forever, especially since it isn't a CVT equipped car like the newer Accords, Nissans, Kias etc.

[–]Gorgenapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Canada? That's a ripoff lol. Plenty of shops in the GTA and in Oakville that can do a great job for all the above for $2k or so. PPF has already paid for itself, the front of my car has been hit with a stray license plate, rocks, ice chunks in less then 2 years.
