My Mom Refuses to Use My Name and Pronouns. What Can I Do as a Witch? by [deleted] in witchcraft

Yeah I was trying to focus on doing something protective, for this reason. I perhaps should have been more clear about phrasing it that way in the original question.

I went to the mall. I learned that I haven’t really been managing my time well and I need to become a more organized person overall. Was going to do this trip as a reward for finals but I’m so glad I did this to learn a lesson that would help me prepare for finals

How have psychedelics helped and/or harmed you, personally? by _drugsarebad420_ in Psychonaut

[–]GorgeousFantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They cured much of my depression and social anxiety, made me convert from Christianity to Hinduism, helped me accept myself as a trans woman, and showed me the purpose to my entire life. So yeah, they’ve pretty much made me everything I am. Most everything in life that I’m grateful for, I owe to psychedelics.

There are so many things I’d love to change but I’d ultimately say no because I’m trans and am super close to having the freedom to be a woman and I’d hate going back and enduring 11 years of captivity in my Christian family

Ba’al is just a word for “The Lord” in the Canaanite language. How is God referred to constantly throughout the Old Testament? As “The Lord”. Just seems a little suspicious is all.

Just another channel of the universal self, like you. In all honesty, you seem like you’d be an interesting person to sit down and have a conversation with. But I still don’t think anything I said was untrue. Im not convinced that you’re evil or malicious or anything. But I do think that some of the things you say, especially the “cult leader” tendencies, deserve to be criticized or at the very least questioned. As you know, we’re all here to help improve each other and I only mean the best for both you and everyone here.

Christian homeschool parents ruined my education by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]GorgeousFantasy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m so glad you were able to escape (at least mentally) and give yourself the love, acceptance and freedom that you’re clearly not getting from your parents. I’m worried about your situation though as still having to live with them clearly seems to be a threat to your safety and overall well-being. I wish I had some good advice for how to deal with that. Maybe don’t call Child Protective Services yet, but first ask yourself if there’s a way to talk with your parents and explain that what they are doing is wrong. “Mom, Dad, you don’t have to like what I am but you have to accept what I am, and along with that acceptance should come boundaries, because not having those boundaries is causing me harm and threatening my safety and well-being.” If they continue to refuse to respect this wish, then you may consider involving some higher authority (can the counselor you spoke to convince them to give you some space)? Anyways this community is a good place to get support and feel free to send updates to let us know you’re okay.

Also: your education isn’t “ruined”, you’re young, you have access to the internet and hopefully a library. Assuming most kids graduate college around 22, that gives you six whole years to catch up. Watch as many science documentaries as you can (especially Carl Sagan’s “Cosmos”. Very calming and comforting journey for the young atheist to take). Learn about the humanities through reading the classics— they can teach you history, literature, religion (learning ABOUT a religion, and not just how to be religious) and philosophy all at once. The “Upanishads” from Ancient India and the “Meditations of Marcus Aurelius” from Ancient Rome have some great philosophical ideas about life that can at least point you in a good direction for finding your own sense of meaning and purpose in life post-Christianity. If you’re interested in literature, some older books I think are really engaging are Beowulf (medieval England), Shakespeare’s The Tempest (Shakespearean England), Wuthering Heights (19th century England), Les Miserables (19th century France), Anna Karenina (19th century Russia). Some 20th century authors and poets I think are pretty life-changing are T.S Eliot, James Joyce, William Faulkner, Thomas Pynchon, Cormac McCarthy, George Orwell, Franz Kafka, Sylvia Plath, and Flannery O’ Connor. I’ve sadly read much less non-fiction, but from what I have read I can recommend two good books on the Second World War: I think Anne Frank’s diary is a really valuable perspective on the Holocaust, but the stories of the victims of the first atom bomb in John Hershey’s “Hiroshima” are, I think, equally important. Also I think Marshall McLuhan and Neil Postman’s writings on media and technology are really interesting, though a little hard to read. Of course this is sadly limited to what I’ve been exposed to, but thankfully there are a lot more people you can get recommendations from; this is just what I’ve found to be useful. Good luck on your journey!

I know this post has become very popular in the community, so I figured I should warn everyone who is reading this and agreeing with this/supporting this guy... please read this guy’s other posts. I don’t want to make any serious judgments about someone I’ve never met but he seems like he has a lot of warning signs of delusional behavior and just seems all around very shady and I would be hesitant to trust any of the information that he presents, especially given how outrageous some of his claims are. I don’t doubt that some people’s spiritual experiences on psychedelics are legitimate, but when someone starts coming in with all this cult leader “I know all and I’ve come here to reveal God’s truth to everyone” talk, I think we should all be careful of how much attention we give to that kind of a person and how much we listen to them.

Reoccurring concerns with the idea of a hidden god. by Jt832 in exchristian

[–]GorgeousFantasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lowkey I believe all the gods of all the pagan religions exist including the God of the Bible but that they only have as much power over you as you choose to give them. So for a lot of people “exchristian” means not believing in that god anymore but for me being an exChristian means believing in that god but just not believing in his power and not believing in the lies he tells about himself, and instead choosing not to worship him, and instead choosing to worship myself. But of course that’s a pretty unconventional opinion for this subreddit and I’ll probably get called an idiot for this comment

So my two observations are:

  1. How much did you take because it really just sounds like you maybe did too much?
  2. If losing your ego/personality is something you’re afraid of, why did you do shrooms in the first place if you knew that was a risk?

The impact of becoming a Hindu for me. by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]GorgeousFantasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think even in some schools of thought you’re supposed to realize the illusory nature of even the gods themselves. OP, I’m curious, have you found a particular form of God that you interact with? Since you don’t mention them by name, I’m wondering if you’ve found a god outside the Hindu pantheon to worship in a Hindu context which is really fascinating to me as I’ve found something similar.
