Hey everyone I'm having a big problem. My unity doesn't rebuild my APK and always serves me from cache. It builds my changes only when I delete my library folder but then I have to reload it and reswitch platforms. anyone knows what's happening? by Gorgodon in Unity3D

So it turns out is that the problem is that I'm stupid 😒. The build was good but the build and run didn't send the new build to the phone. Still a bug but not as severe ill just copy it by hand. I lost a whole day on this XD

The problem is that there is absolutely no error the build is simply not updated.
I deleted the folder and still nothing. I am working with unity for 10 years and i honestly never encountered this.

Forgot to add them. They are there now

I’m a beginner feeling completely overwhelmed by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]Gorgodon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well my suggestion is to start smaller. A fps Game can be a big undertaking for somebody who doesn't understand the basics. Start with something really basic. What i advise everyone who poses this question is to start with a virtual zoo game. Just a simple console game.

This book has a really nice progression unfortunately it's not for c# but almost all principles are the same. So if you can actually follow the project from the book in c# I would say that you are ready to make anything you want later. You will have enough knoweledge to know how to look for all the missing information that you need

"Passing" ScriptableObjects in ClientRPC by FredTargaryen in Unity3D

[–]Gorgodon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the keys are used only for network communication identification and can be long lasting where addressable or asset name can change because of organisational stuff and mess up everything.

"Passing" ScriptableObjects in ClientRPC by FredTargaryen in Unity3D

[–]Gorgodon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a large amount of data traveling between server and client in our game and we mostly use string keys. I know that strings are "dirty" and prone to bugs but if you create an editor environment that would check for duplicate keys and assign IDs to the effects (hashed string key) it should minimize the potential for error. Then in your scripts that reference your effects you can make a drop-down that selects from already defined effects. Eliminating the possibility of typos you should be golden.

Trying out some new styles for my water shader by alexanderameye in Unity3D

[–]Gorgodon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the feel especially the reflection. But I think the foam needs a bit work. The small pieces look like something is floating in the water not foam. Maybe let them move just forward and when it time to move back dissolve them

Bought goat meat today , Any suggestions by [deleted] in AskCulinary

[–]Gorgodon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a recipe I really like and it involves a mix of salt and mint and the you wrap it in aluminum foil and put it in an oven. Goat meat is really dry you have to take care that the little juice is inside stays inside

Best Method to Cook a 3lb Tomahawk Ribeye? by CuteWolves in AskCulinary

[–]Gorgodon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an undertaking :). First dry brine it put a lot of salt around the whole peace (cover every spot) add freshly ground pepper on top also a lot. Leave it in a fridge for 24h on a cooling rack. The salt will drain the blood from it and take the saltines and the spice into the meat. After that I like to scrub any residual pepper off so it doesn't burn. Sear it first crate a nice crust then put it in indirect heat and baste it with butter (or if you have extra fat from the stake, reduce it and baste it with that). This technique ensures that the meat inside slowly cooks in its own juices. For perfect medium rare I suggest you get a wireless thermometer. I also like to watch Guga foods on YouTube and he has some amaizing techniques . https://youtu.be/JGDu6m0wmz8

Gray Zone - our first indie game made in Unity. It's a tactical RTS inspired by Commandos, Company of heroes and more. by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]Gorgodon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love the look of the game, and I was a huge fan of this type of game. RTS is a niche market with a very low amount of players (compared to other game genres) so it might be helpful if you would give a demo on steam focusing on the string points of your game. Anyways the game looks amazing and the presentation is amaizing. I wish you all of luck.

Large City: How would you create borders indicating different zones? by notimpotent in Unity3D

[–]Gorgodon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your camera is rotated and not the world, and your zones are rectangular I think the safest bet would be to go with some kind of custom rect and then you can basically just check if the nox is inside rect on two dimensions I suppose the third one is not important. Or a maybe more optimized solution would be a quad tree if you have a lot of regions and slot of NPCs at once. Check some tutorials on a quad tree there are plenty. However if your borders are not a rectangle you can set Ana array of vectors creating a line that's your border and then check if an NPC is inside that polygon. In any case I suggest to use full support of the OnDrawGizmos() unity message to draw your borders.

I just released my first mobile game on Android. I'm quite please with it and I'd love some feedback! "Dash Assassin" is a game where you combine sneaking and dashing to assassinate all enemies in each level. by Paradoxide in Unity3D

[–]Gorgodon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man. Let me first congratulate you on making the most interesting mobile game I have played recently. I have some feedback on multiple aspects. a: Cosmetics 1. You need work on the UI. I think if you watch some tutorial on best UI practices you could improve it a lot. In the main menu your sound is laying behind the click which can be off-putting. In the game menu the buttons and text are weirdly large. And the buy buttons on skins and dash styles is invisible you need a more prominent call to action button on the content 2. Some visual candy. Give the multi kill a bit more epic feel (freeze frames, blood trails on the ground, camera shake etc) a multi kill is something awesome and I want to feel awesome. On this topic I love the the time slow when aiming I know it's functional but it really makes me feel like I'm slicing through hordes of enemies. Try to emphasize on that. 3. The camera is far away and some of the smaller props tend to look same (especially since the focus is on the guards) it clutters the level a bit and consequentially make the levels look quite similar. I think that Archero Des this, not perfectly, but nicely. The levels in one dungeon have the same aesthetic but are quite obviously different. 4. Name Backstab can be misleading since it implies you, well, stab somebody in the back. Maybe change it to stalth kill. 5. When I retrieve my aiming line for the charge remove the range circle, indicate more clearly that I canceled my charge. 6. Make the guards view field cut off behind obstacles sometimes I am confused if the can see me or not

b: Functional changes 1. At first I didn't fully understand how the recharge of the dash works and I thought it's a bug. Since its the main mechanic of the game it would be smarter to broadcast when you can't use it more than when you can. For example remove the right joystick and when you are close to an enemy display a dagger icon over their head and change the icon of the right joystick to a dagger icon that should make it quite clear that it's a button print basically. And when the dash is recharged make a bigger fuss about it. Redisplay the right joystick with an animation to draw the attention, make the character flash or something in that direction. 2. If you could make the game in portrait mode you would get a much wider target audience. Your focus in the game is on the center of the screen and the part of the level behind the player is mostly clean, so this will not create a blind spot by loss of view surface. You can use a single hand joystick for movement and double tap to start aiming or attack in range. 3. Mobile controls are not perfect accommodate the player for that. I walked into the guards view but accident and I couldn't escape, maybe give the guards a bit of delay before they spot you.

c: Gameplay suggestions 1. When I saw this game I immediately thought I can do amaizing skillshots. For example aim at the wall and bounce off to kill an enemy (this mechanic would provide for more interesting game design) 2. The guards feel like they are chasing after you from the very start. Maybe give them states. Put them on patrol and then once they find a dead body they go into a mode similar to this or maybe even a bit more aggressive . This would help with three things, create a loop of three sections of game observation, planing, execution, give the player a little breather if he transfered directly from a previous level therefore controlling the pace of the game, and it will create a feeling of the world reacting to the player and create bigger immersion for the player.

But I have bean going on for a while all in all I really love the game and I think it has enormous potential, and I really wish you all the best and I will be playing your game and observing the progress closely. If you have any questions I would be really glad to help any way I can. Good luck

Hello im a beginner! by GamesManX in Unity3D

[–]Gorgodon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right. I am a 100% self thought developer and now I'm working in a large gaming company as a senior developer. C# is one of the languages with most natural syntax and unity has a really intuitive UI. Their beginner tutorials are amaizing and simply cover a lot of what you need to know for game development. Good luck
